PROJECT PROPOSAL

TITLE: The use of English Language to communicate with foreign people who visit the
museum and buy souvenirs.

PLACE: Museum “Fray Enrique Mideros”

TUTOR: Lic. Monica Vinueza

LEVEL: Fourth “B”

GENERAL BASIS:

1. Current Conditions or situation on the class observed

The concept of communication is the activity of conveying information through


the exchange of thoughts, messages, or information, as by speech, visuals, signals,
writing, or behavior. It is the meaningful exchange of information between two or
more living creatures. The use of the English language in business generally implies a
fundamental need for people to communicate across the globe, at least at a basic
verbal. We can argue about the merits of the situation, but English already is the
language of international commerce.

Nowadays all people that are working in business have to speak English because is
really necessary if we communicate and spread our products and business. In these
days to speak English is necessary even more if we work in a tourism business, The
English language is well-known in business world.

 The use of the English language with English speaker who visit a museum.

3. Justification

We have decided to work in this topic because it is really important to know the best way
to communicative with others who speaks one language different from ours such as
English and that’s well-known around the world. It is an international language; majority
people around the world speak English as either a native or non-native speaker. The
importance of Business English is essential to communicate in negotiations, meetings,
socializing, correspondence, report and a systematic approach.

4. Who will benefit

After developing this project there will be many people got benefit. These are:

 The Universidad Técnica de Ambato, because of “Acreditación Internacional”


the university needs to prove that students are good researchers and
obviously are going to develop good skills as professionals. For this reason
the university will increase its dignity and reputation inside and outside the
country.

 The students that present this project are going to be the most benefit and
workers museums too, because of the important knowledge they are going to
get. They will have better understanding to communicate of best way with
foreign people who visit the Museum and selling souvenirs.

5. Operational Objectives

5.1 General Objective

To be able to communicate with foreign people who speak English using an


appropriate phrases to guide to visitors and to sell souvenirs inside of the museum.

5.2 Specific Objectives

 To apply a survey to know which are the most common question that
visitors needed to know in the museum.
 To increase the sales in the museum especially with foreign people.
 To adapt specific phrases to understand and to speak English.
 To increase the knowledge of English language in the museum’s workers
and how to communicate in better way when they are training in the
museum.

6. Steps for implementing the project

To implement this project its necessary to follow these steps:

 To apply a survey to know which are the most common question that visitor
needed to know in the museum.

 To search resources about developing communication in business specially

in tourism topic.

 To provide specific phrases in English with information about the museum.

7. Measurable Criteria to evaluate the project-ongoing monitoring
and final evaluation
We will evaluate this project through a video where the workers of the museum are
speaking and using English phrases to sell the souvenirs and provide the necessary
information to the foreign that speak English and visit the museum. Finally, to measure the
development of museum`s workers will be show through of the surveys made of the
customers that show the satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the services and the increase
of the sales of the souvenirs.

8. - Arguments Supported by Theorical Literature

English has emerged as the global language of trade and commerce in the past few
decades, affecting many key aspects of business in the modern world. The English
language first spread as the result of colonial expansion, and it has become the standard for
all important official communications in an increasingly large number of countries with a
wide variety of native languages. In the modern world, thanks to the Internet, English
continues to spread as the major medium through which both small businesses and large
corporations do business.

In some industries, such as the airline and shipping industries .English is the official
standard language. Therefore, an excellent command of English is required for key jobs,
such as in the museums, as tourist guide. In addition, English has emerged as a major
language for finance around the world because it helps to communicate with people who
speak English.
