X For Science and Health, I created an interactive bulletin board about the life cycles of a frog
and butterfly.

X In Characteristics and Strategies II, I worked with three colleagues to design a unit plan for a
classroom at Clairview School. After we created the unit plan, we presented it to our class. I
demonstrated leadership in this project when I took responsibility for certain aspects of the
plan. For example, I created several instructional materials for the lessons. I was then
responsible for presenting my contributions to the class. I used negotiation skills when I
collaborated with my colleagues to agree on lesson plan topics and appropriate instructional
materials. I demonstrated relational skills such as trustworthiness and reliability. I completed
my portion of the project accurately and in a timely manner. I used consensus skills when I
listened to the input of every group member and worked with them to find a solution that best
fit the needs of our group.

X In Introduction to Exceptional Children, I researched autism spectrum disorder and created a
task analysis for hand washing. I used John Locke’s concept of tabula rasa, or blank slate, as
the basis for the task analysis. Locke said that children are born with minds that are blank
slates. They gain knowledge through experiences. Using this concept along with ethical
decision-making, I created a pictorial for each step of the hand washing process.
