Well control recommended practices

1. Record and post Company Man office, Rig Manager office and Driller console the following information:
1.1 Maximum allowed wellhead pressures; bop rating, casing and liner collapse & yield pressure.
1.2 Pump pressure at minimum pumping speed.
1.3 Detailed information of well completion:
1.3.1 All casing, liner and workstring capacities
1.3.2 Workover fluid properties such as weight, viscosity, salinity. Record any properties change.
1.3.3 After each BHA change ( artificial lift or work string)
1.4 Bop’ stack arrangement & choke manifold arrangement
2. Always stop operations when any kick indicator is noticed; pick up the string 15 ft; shut off pumps and
check for flow after the first of these warning signs (take minimun 5 mins to wait the reaction of the well
flowing or not):
1.1 Increase in flow return rate (controlling the well)
1.2 Tripping out/in work string or artificial lift equipment
1.3 Gain in pit volume (PVT)
1.4 Decrease in circulation pressure and increase in the pump speed (spm)( while controlling well)
1.5 Cut brine weight coming out & changes of the brine properties
3. Shut-in the well immediately after confirm well flowing with the following procedure: (first sound kick alarm
once)
1.1 Pick up to correct space out
1.2 Close annular preventer (if sicp > 1,000 psi , so close pipe ram)
1.3 open choke line valve (hcr)
1.4 Verify that well is shut-in
1.5 Record string (SIDPP) and annular pressures (SICP) every minute, until pressures stabilize. SICP must
be under MASP (SICP < MASP)
1.6 Record the total gain on the pits (PVT in bbls)
4. Notify supervisors & calculate the kill sheet (it is recommended the driller method)

UTE 1: IC Program 2
Note: Kill sheet should be update for each single well and for each well section.
5. Always, bleed off any accumulated pressure before open annular. All personnel must be cover and far
away from the bushings.

UTE 1: IC Program 3
5. POOH and stand back DP and LD DC’s, bit and scraper.
NOTES:
 Isolate tank capacity to mix approximately 900 bbls. casing volume of Fresh filtered water
 Make sure that solids content in Fresh water is below 10 microns. A filter unit is to be used to
accomplish the 10 microns requirement.
 Biocide and corrosion inhibitor are from Schlumberger.
 Add 20 gallons of biocide in each 500 barrel of water to obtain 1000 ppm.
 Add 6 gallons of corrosion inhibitor each one in each 500 barrels of water to obtain the required 300
ppm.
 Add KCL to get 8,4 ppg.
 Send one liter of brine sample to UTE Chemical Department.

LOGGING PROCEDURE:
1. Rig up Schlumberger wire line unit.
2. Perform cement quality evaluation with USIT-CBL-VDL-GR-CCL tools over interval 8,890’ – 10,691’ MD.
NOTES:
 Depth control is not necessary.
 Logs to be run under pressure. Apply and maintain 500 psi on surface. Use shooting nipple &
stuffing box.

26. Set BPV through the rotary with a joint of tubing.
27. Nipple down Bop’s.
28. Carefully land the tree onto the tubing hanger. Make up the connection fully.
29. With all the valves in the closed position, pressure tests the tree to 2,000 psi.
