II. Eligibility
- Applicants for master degree programs must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
- Applicants for Doctoral degree programs must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
1. Master degree students: 3 years (plus 1 year for Chinese Language courses)
2. Doctoral degree students: 3 years (plus 1 year for Chinese Language courses)
According to the regulation stipulated by MOE, all the programs are instructed in Chinese. Applicants
with no command of Chinese are generally required to take Chinese language courses for 1 year before
starting their academic programs. Duration for scholarship specified at the time of admission can NOT
be extended in principle.

1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee
for basic learning materials and accommodation on campus;
2. Living allowance;
3. Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for
International Students in China;
Note:
1) Costs of the laboratory experiment or internship beyond the university’s arrangements should be
born by the student himself.
2) Fee for basic learning materials covers the necessary learning materials prescribed by the host
institution, and other materials shall be at self expenses.
4. Monthly allowance is provided to students by the host institution at the following rates (CNY Yuan per
month):
Scholarship students shall receive their monthly allowance after registration. New students who register
before 15th (15th included) of the registration month will get the full amount of living allowance of that
month, and those who register after 15th will get half amount of that month. Students upon
graduation will be given a living allowance for another 15 days after the graduation time set by the
university. The allowance will be terminated from the next month after students suspend their studies
, drop school or complete schooling from the university. Monthly allowance covers school holidays.
Scholarship students who do not get the monthly living allowance during holidays can get that upon
their return on campus. For those students who do not register on time without permission from the
university, leave for non-health reasons or are absent from the university over a month, the
allowance will be suspended for one month.
Students who have to suspend their studies because of serious diseases should go back to the home
country and pay for the international trip by themselves. With the university’s approval, the
scholarship status can be reserved for at most one year, and their living allowances will be suspended
at the same time. The scholarship will be terminated for those who suspend their studies for other
reasons.
5. Fee for outpatient medical service refers to the outpatient expense in the institution’s hospital or the
hospitals entrusted by the institution. The students should pay for a certain percentage of expense in
accordance with the institution’s relevant regulations.
6. Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China is provided by
MOE for the scholarship students in China in case of hospitalizing for serious diseases and accidental
injuries. The institutions or the entrusted medical assistance agency provide advancement service for
insurance expenses, and claim for compensation with relevant payment receipts from the insurance
company according to the stipulated insurance articles. The claim of individual student will not be
accepted by the insurance company.
2. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy): University students or applicants employed shall provide
proof of studying or employment on application. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English
must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
3. Academic trans (notarized photocopy): Trans in languages other than Chinese or English must be
attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
1. Visa Application
Students under Chinese Government Scholarship Program should apply for visa to study in China at the
Chinese embassy or consulate-general with the original documents and one set of photocopies of the
Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study In China (JW201) and Foreigner Physical Examination
Form and valid passport. Those who will study in China more than 6 month need to apply for “X” visa,
and those who will study in China less than 6 months (including 6 months) shall apply for “F” visa. The
scholarship students must enter China and register with institutions with theoriginal copies of the above
documents. Students who come to China with other types of passports, visas or without the original
documents will not be able to register with institutions, nor will they be able to apply for the residence
permit in China.
2. Registration
International students must register with the institution at the time specified with original Admission
Notice, Visa Application for Study In China (JW201) and Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Those
who are unable to register on time must seek permission from the institution directly. Those who fail to
register without the prior consent of the institution will be considered as voluntarily giving up and the
scholarship will automatically be withdrawn.
Health verification: Scholarship holders who are to stay in China more than 6 months are requested to
bring their passports, Admission Notice, and the original Foreigner Physical Examination Form and
the Blood Test Report to the local health quarantine office within the set time to have their medical
examination reports verified. International students who do not meet the requirement will have to re-
take the medical examination. Those who refuse to re-take the medical examination or are diagnosed
with diseases that are not permitted to enter China according to the Chinese laws and regulations will
be required to leave China.
Residence Permit: After the health verification, the scholarship holders must apply for residence
permit to the local police authority with their passports, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form
for Study In China (JW201) within 30 days upon their arrival.
Expenses incurred in the procedures above shall be born by the international students themselves.
1. In accordance with the Measures for the Annual Review of Chinese Government Scholarship Status,
scholarship students who will study in China for more than one year must participate in the annual
review of Chinese Government Scholarship Status. Entrusted by CSC, the hosting institutions will make
a comprehensive review on the scholarship students’ performance, including academic record,
learning attitude, class attendance, behavior, rewards and punishment.
2. Those who are qualified in the annual review will continue to enjoy the scholarship for the following
academic year. For those who fail in the annual review, their scholarships will be suspended or
terminated for the following academic year.
3. If students whose scholarship has been suspended wish to continue to study in China, they still
enjoy the comprehensive medical insurance provided by Chinese government during the suspension.
4. If students have financial difficulty during the suspension, they can apply to their host institutions
for expense deduction. If they wish to resume the scholarship status, they can apply to participate in
the annual review for the next academic year. Their scholarship status will be resumed if they are
qualified for the annual review.
5. Students who have been disqualified from the scholarship status are not allowed to apply for
scholarship resumption.
