Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I can address all of my students needs by offering alternatives for
auditory information and visual information. I can provide multiple tools for construction and composition
with the quiz. Also, I can optimize individual choice and autonomy by giving students tablets or devices to use.
Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will allow the class to watch the BrainPop video. After the video,
the teacher will discuss the importance of washing your hands. Students will discuss illnesses that they have
had before and the teacher can use those as an example of how washing your hands is beneficial. After the
video and discussion, students will take the quiz as a class. As an extension, you could have students wash
hands individually and be sure that they follow the correct process.

This lesson will be implemented during the health section of the day or whenever students are lacking hand
washing skills. The project will be introduced in the beginning of the year. This lesson will take about 20-30
minutes. Students will be assessed as a class with the quiz and individually when they wash their hands. You

could extend to a higher level of learning by taking it more in depth and showing before and after pictures of
hands with glo germ and black light or experimenting with black light yourself. I will provide feedback to my
students by asking them to better wash their hands or congratulate them on a job well done.

Reflective Practice: I believe that this lesson and the extension with the black light could lead my students to
really impacted by the importance of washing their hands.
