Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This lesson addresses the UDL guideline of engagement by keeping the
students engaged with a fun PowerPoint. The students can follow along with the PowerPoint and try to guess
which season it is based on the pictures. This is something that all of the students can do and will keep all of
them engaged. The students will also have the opportunity to watch the PowerPoint video at home if they
need to with the voice attached.

Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will first introduce the topic (seasons) and ask the students what
they already know about seasons/names the one that they know. The students will engage in a class
discussion and then the teacher will present the PowerPoint. The class will go through the PowerPoint and
the students will guess each season based on the picture that they see. The teacher will assess learned
through observation of participation and discussion or one on one time if needed. The PowerPoint can be
used in different ways as needed by the students/families in the class or at home.
The learning will be extended by having the class participate in an activity where they further explore the
seasons. This can be done through a group activity where the students pick a season and make a poster board
with drawings/artifacts of aspects of this season. The lesson will be concluded by going through the
PowerPoint one last time and having the groups present their posters. I will provide feedback to the students
by meeting with them and discussing with them their understanding.

Reflective Practice: I believe that these activities could be great for young students to further their
understanding of seasons and better remember all of them. This lesson is more introductory as it introduces
the topic of seasons and a lot can be done in future lessons to further expand on this topic. Technology can be
used to help students further explore the seasons. An exciting idea would be to use virtual reality to have the
students experience each season in a virtual way.
