CHAPTER 1 : INTRODUCTION OF MANAGEMENT

Definition:
 Mary Parker Follet defined management as the art of getting things done through people.

ORGANIZATION!
 Organization can be divide into 2 group:
o Profit: such as business organization such as Tesco, Pizza Hut, Mcd and others.
o Non-Profit: society which volunteering such as MAKNA, BAKTI and others.

Importance:
Accomplish objective or goals.
Preserve Knowledge.
Serve Society.

GOALS!
Definition:
Van Fleet (1991) defined goals as the target of organization aim for
**dalam kata lain, goals ini adalah target kita untuk berjaya.

MANAGERS!
Manager need four function (POLICE).
Planning
Organizing
Leading
Controlling

MEASURE MANAGERIAL PERFORMANCE:

Effectiveness:
Doing the right things.
 Example: NLK memilih untuk menjual nasi lemak kerana di sekitar perumahan itu tiada yang
jual.

Efficiency:
Doing the things right.
Example: NLK memilih untuk menjual nasi lemak kerana kos yang tidak mahal tetapi mendapat
keuntungan yang lebih untuk mencapai target.

MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS/PROCESS

Planning:
Involves setting goals and actions necessary to achieve these goals
Example: NLK kena ada planning supaya tindakan dapat diambil apabila sesuatu halangan
mendatang dan senang untuk mencapai target.

Organizing:
Manager need to organize their employees to follow the flow when do the task and easy to get
the target.
Example: NLK mesti menyusun strategi supaya apa yang dirancang berjalan dengan lancar.

Leading:
Manager must be motivated their employees and always know employees or group behaviour.
Example: NLK mesti sentiasa motivasikan pekerja-pekerja nya dan mengetahui perangai masing-

Controlling:
Manager must able to control all the task and control the employees.
Example: NLK mestilah sentiasa mengawal segala yang dirancang dan mereka juga mesti
mengawal perkerja-2 supaya menlakukan kerja.
