It iswithgreat pleasure andexcitement that I welcome youto the 11thCongress
of the Asia-Pacific Society of Atherosclerosis & Vascular Diseases (APSAVD)!
Our scientific program is loaded with opportunities for interesting, relevant and
informative interactions. The theme is timely:
“Addressing Regional Diversity in Atherosclerosisand Vascular Disease in the
Asia-PacificRegion”
We have a line-up of eminent academics, clinicians and researchers from
within and outside the Asia-Pacific region who will present important data and
share experiences on dealing with dyslipidemias and arteriosclerosis in their
respective countries and in the Asia-Pacific region. A special session on Familial
Hypercholesterolemia in the region is also in the program. Interactions between
countries in the region on above topics augur well for future collaborations that
the APSAVDcan spearhead.
Aside from the scientific sessions, there are at least three more reasons why
you will enjoy the congress: first isthe renowned hospitality of the Filipinoswho
just love to welcome and show their guests around; second is the novelty of
seeingthispart of the Philippinesthat visitorshave yet to experience- Iloilo City,
voted the most livable city in the Philippines for two straight years; and third,
the Filipino culture and the places to enjoy after the congress are there for the
taking, and quite inexpensive, too!
The congress host is the Philippine Lipid & Arteriosclerosis Society, with major
co-sponsors: the Philippine Society of Hypertension (PSH), the Philippine
Heart Association (PHA), the Philippine Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and
