RE: MICHIGAN GOP PRIMARY POLL RESULTS

On behalf of the Schuette for Governor Campaign, Public Opinion Strategies conducted a statewide
survey of 800 Republican Primary Voters (moe + 3.4%), February 10-13, 2018.

KEY FINDINGS
§ Bill Schuette has nearly a 30-point lead in the GOP primary for Governor.
In the upcoming race for the GOP nomination, Schuette has a significant lead and has higher support
than his three main competitors combined:

§ Schuette’s lead extends across every key demographic and geographic group.
The Attorney General leads Calley by 34 points among very conservative voters, and by 32 points
among GOP voters who view the President favorably. Schuette leads Calley across all of the state’s
media markets – including by 32 points among voters in the Detroit media market, which includes
crucial GOP primary counties like Oakland and Macomb.

And, in a troubling sign for the Calley campaign, Schuette leads the Lieutenant Governor by a
55%-22% margin among those voters who have a favorable impression of both candidates.

§ President Trump is very popular with Republicans in Michigan, and his endorsement of Schuette
will carry significant weight with the GOP primary electorate.
Fully 84% of GOP primary voters view the President favorably, compared with just 14% who view
him unfavorably. The President is almost universally supported by higher propensity GOP voters,
including among very conservative primary voters who view him favorably by a 96%-3% margin.

BOTTOM LINE
Bill Schuette is the clear frontrunner in the GOP primary for Governor and has the support of President
Donald Trump – the most popular Republican figure in the country – and Vice-President Mike Pence.
For the Schuette Campaign to maintain this wide lead, we’re going to need to continue to share the
Attorney General’s vision for Michigan and have the financial resources to combat the negative attacks
sure to come from our opponents.
