RelaySimTest

What’s New in Version 2.20

Compared to Version 2.10

1 Introduction
Over the last few years, RelaySimTest has prevented many misoperations by allowing you to conduct
system-based tests in the field. RelaySimTest 2.20 adds a few important features—the result is a powerful
tool for testing the dynamic performance of relay algorithms required in relay development and
prequalification testing.

2 Overhauled Test Manager

When you test the dynamic performance of a protection relay (for example, in accordance with IEC 60255-
121), several thousand test steps are typically performed and recorded for statistical analysis. In previous
versions of RelaySimTest, documents with that many test steps affected the responsiveness of the user
interface.

In RelaySimTest 2.20, Test Manager has been completely revamped for a more user-friendly experience.
The test case descriptions and instruction commands are now visible from Test Manager without the need
to open the test case.

3 Current transformer saturation based on predefined classes
You can configure the current transformer (CT) data for saturation simulation based on one of several
predefined classes. This is especially helpful in a lab environment where no real CT can be measured. For
field tests, the ideal solution remains to import CT data from a CT Analyzer report (if possible).

4 Capacitive voltage transformer simulation (IEC 60255-121)

You can simulate the secondary transient behavior of capacitive voltage transformers (CVTs) as described
in IEC 60255-121.

5 New testing packages in accordance with IEC 60255-121

With the release of RelaySimTest 2.20, OMICRON offers Testing package for IEC 60255-121 (VESM1192).
The package includes:
> RelaySimTest documents to perform dynamic tests in accordance with IEC 60255-121
> Excel documents to generate reports for dynamic tests in accordance with IEC 60255-121
> Shot Calculator executable to create static accuracy tests in accordance with IEC 60255-121 in
OMICRON Control Center
> User documentation
