Goa Carnival is a colourful festival celebrated in the month of February. The
Portuguese introduced this festival to the culture of the place. During the carnival,
Panjim, the capital of Goa is the centre of attraction. One can see the colourful parade
with music bond. It is from here king Momo once started the festival with a
procession through the streets. The term carnival means take away meat. People stay
away from meat during the forty-day period. Some of the attractions of the carnival
are decorated chariots followed by people in colourful costumes, drama based on the
story of King Momo, red lack dancers and masked revelers.
