Domain 1: Planning and Preparation

Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy ● My lesson plans are consistently based on objectives
outlined in the District 124 Technology Curriculum Map,
which is based on the most up to date ISTE standards. I
also refer to the Common Core Standards in designing
my lessons. For each class, objectives are listed and a
link to the map is included at the top of the lesson plan
page.
● I continually make notes on my lesson plans to note
lessons that were successful, lessons that need to be
revisited, and lessons that need to be adjusted.

Designing Coherent Instruction ● I consider the make up of a class and revise my

instruction techniques accordingly. For some co-taught
classes, I have altered the lessons that were presented
to other classes in the same grade. This may require
slowing the pace of instruction, chunking the given
instructions, and modifying the grading rubric for certain
projects.
● When appropriate I design activities that give students
choice in demonstrating what they are learning. These
choices are appropriately leveled to allow for
differentiation among student abilities.
● I consult with Classroom teachers to ensure that my
lessons on technology use are integrated with curricular
content that is being learned in their classroom.

Selecting Instructional Goal ● When presenting lessons, I continually refer to previous

lessons taught on the same subject or to lessons that
were taught in their classroom to provide a frame of
reference.
● I am working on the District Science Curriculum
Committee to assess the current resources,
Stemscopes and Mystery Science, the district is using
for all grade levels and to develop a scope and
sequence which I can then apply to my technology
lessons.

Knowledge of the Students ● I strive to meet all of my students' needs by consulting

504 plans that are shared with me as well as consulting
with Resource teachers on students with IEPs. I use
these resources to make accommodations (such as
proximity to teacher, written instructions, extra time for
assignment completion, allowing for breaks,
verbal/nonverbal redirection, etc.).
● I regularly consult with other school staff (social worker,
school psychologist, speech teacher, ELL teacher)
regarding background knowledge on students and their
homelife that would assist in adapting my lessons when
necessary.
● When applicable, I have students complete a student
interest survey to gain background knowledge of the
student.

Knowledge of Resources ● I follow a variety of blogs to gain a better perspective on

student lear (Tier 1 (cultural relevance), Larry Ferlazzo
(for teaching ELL, ESL, & EFL), The Nerdy Teacher,
Cool Cat Teacher, Common Sense Graphite, Ditch That
Textbook
● I make use of a variety of online resources that adjust
for student ability level (Youtube, Youtube kids,
Brainpop, Stemscopes, Mystery Science, Newsela).
Some of these are accessed directly by students and
some teacher directed within the lesson.
● I attend conferences (Makerspace, ICE) to stay up date
on current trends in Educational Technology.

Assessing Student Learning ● I use teacher created rubrics with projects that students
complete on the computer. I provide these at the
beginning of the lesson so students have a clear
understanding of what is expected of them.
● I use the teacher dashboards to track the progress of my
students on sites such as Typing.com, Code.org,
DigitalPassport.org. These online tools allow me to
identify students who are not progressing as quickly as
their peers and may need more individualized attention.
They also allow me to identify students who are rapidly
getting through lessons so I can determine how to keep
them challenged.
● I use pre and post assessments to determine student
growth.
● I modify assessments for students on IEPs.
