Dell System E-Support Tool (DSET) is a utility that collects configuration and log data from the target server for various
chassis hardware, storage, and operating system components of a Dell PowerEdge server. DSET generates a System Config-
uration Report, which consolidates the gathered data into a .zip file that can be uploaded to Dell Technical Support.

Supported Hardware Platforms


• PowerEdge Series (Rack, Tower, Blade, Cloud)

Supported Operating Systems


• Microsoft Windows Server 2003 / 2003R2 / 2008 / 2008R2 / SBS2011 / 2012

Download DSET 3.4

Run it as an administrator.

Procedure

Create a one-time DSET report.

Done.
Download DSET tool

For 32 bit / 64 bit Windows:

1.Go to download link.

2.Save the file.


Collecting DSET Log

1.Run it as an administrator.

2.Click Next to continue.


3.Click Next after you accept
the agreement.

Option: Clear Dell Hardware Logs


Select this option when you want to just
clear the hardware event log only.

4.Select Create a One-Time


Local System DSET Report
then Click Next to continue.
Option: Report Name or Full Path
Modify the content if you want to change
the file name or location.

Option: Enable Report Filtering


Please keep it uncheck for completeness.
Filter a few data from the report such as:
Host name / IP address / Subnet mask
Default gateway / MAC address / Logs
DHCP server / DNS server / Registry
Processes / Environment variables /

5.Click Next to continue.

Option: Information Gather Option


Uncheck the options to remove specific
Information from the report.
Please do not uncheck any options
without your Technical Support advises.

6.Click Next to start.


7.Please wait for the collec-
tion complete, it may take
about 10 minutes.

8.Click Finish to exit.


9.Find out the zip file and
send back to your Tech-
nical Support.
1.Are there any unnecessary files leaved in the OS after the collection?
No, DSET will temporary save the file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\AdvDiags\DSET and delete them once the collection completed.

2.Where I can find the Log file?


By default, it should be on the desktop named as: DSET Report for [<computer name> SvcTag-<service tag>-<model name>] on <Date> at <Time>.zip

3.What’s the password for this zip file?


You can use the password ‘dell’ to unzip this file.
