Indonesia but frequently they are invited for
international conferences all over the world
and they certainly have a very tight
schedule all the time. So we are very lucky
to be able to meet them here now.

of our today session that:

Literacy is extremely important in learning

development and some researchers have
acknowledged that literacy experiences in the pre-
school and kindergarten years provide a foundation
for later successful beginning reading and writing. In
order to maximize its development on young
learners, special strategies need to be implemented
by adults.

I hope this session will be very beneficial

for you and your job in the coming future
and please accept my apology if there is
any inconveniences along the session.

Before we finish, could you please give

your highest appreciation to the two

SOME TIPS IN PREPARING POWER POINTS FOR PRESENTATION

It is very common now that a seminar presentation is provided with power points. Some
students are very good at making slides with very charming animations and interesting backgrounds.
However, some of them still show lack of competencies on that. The following is a set of advices which I
need to share to students in order to improve the quality of your power points.

- Every slide must have a title.

- The writing on the slide must be easy to be read:
o -the size of the font is not too small
o -the combination of the colors used must be appropriate (pay attention on the choice of
colors for background and the writing, e.g. not use dark colors for both).
o -the font types must be chosen properly (the readers must feel comfortable to read the
writings).
- The amount of the information on the slide must be appropriate, not too short or too long.
- The correlation of ideas between the title and the content in one slide must be clear.
- Use appropriate animations and background pictures so they will not be disturbing.
- Students sometimes can not differentiate the key ideas and supporting details so make sure that
you focus on the key concepts on your slide.
- Your power point must be able to clarify your presentation, so you can add a diagram/graph to
convey your theoretical framework.
ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Arrange a seminar presentation in a group of 5 students where each of the students will be
assigned as a presenter and the others will be as a master of ceremony, moderator, a note
taker, and presenters.
