ADDIE write up

Analyze- The course will be designed for students to self-navigate through a lesson on rounding
to the nearest ten. The objective of this course will be to teach students how to round to the
nearest ten place value. My audience will be second-grade students with the age range of 7-8
years old. The content will consist of a video and a game to play. My assessment strategies are
both formal and informal. The game is an informal assessment of the students’ knowledge. The
formal assessment is the true, false questions presented at the end of the game.

Design: The first unit is an introduction and explanation of the lesson. The next unit gives a brief
visual review of place value using numerals and base ten blocks. The next page then presents the
video. The video is vital to the lesson as it provides modeling and explanation. Students are
encouraged to utilize paper and pencil to follow along with the video. After the video students
are given game questions to attempt an independent practice at the concept just learned. If
students are struggling the page will redirect them back to the video. After the game students can
try again if they are unsuccessful or move on if they are successful. Once the student moves on
they are presented with the formal assessment of true, false timed questions.

Develop: The Captivate presentation is developed using an available template. The rounding
chart is a self-created visual. The video is an integral part of the lesson and includes vast
explanation and examples. The games and quiz are both created using the Captivate platform.

Implement: This will be implemented as an independent task on laptops. Students will receive a
whole group demonstration on how to navigate the program from the instructor before beginning
the task. The students will be responsible for their learning and inquiry throughout the lesson.
The instructor will serve as a facilitator and a guide to troubleshoot any issues or confusion a
student may have.

Evaluation: Students will be evaluated both formally and informally. The game is an informal
check for understanding after the presentation of the lesson. The true or false will serve as a
formal assessment. The effectiveness of the program and the instructor will be based upon the
accuracy and success rate of the students. The student data will determine if any modifications
need to be made to improve success.
