Cons- Gets difficult quickly, it would make kindergarten students get frustrated because
students have to count backwards and most kindergarten students can’t do that yet.
Standards: Count to tell the number of objects K.CC.4
a. When counting objects, say the number names in the standard
order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and
each number name with one and only one object.
b. Understand that the last number name said tells the number of
objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of
their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
c. Understand that each successive number name refers to a
quantity that is one larger

Measuring Kindergarten

Description: Children are able to explore many ways to measure a bug including length, width
and weight all in a natural context with built in scaffolding. Includes randomized comparing
game that gives young children lots of opportunities to explore the ideas associated with different
types of measurement.
Pros: This app will allow students to learn how to measure and it includes several different kind
of games for them to learn how to do that. It allow them to have fun while learning how to
measure.
Cons: This app is not free. The cost is 1.99 and is also only available for the IOS phones.
Mathomatix Measurement HD
Description: kids to start learning about basic measurement concepts like weight, volume, and
length. Punflay, a leader in early learning apps has made sure to make learning fun and offers
kid-friendly graphics and cute characters.
Pros: There are five fun learning activities in this app. Children learn a variety of measurements
with this app.
Cons: This app is not free and is mainly for IOS electronic devices.
Standards:
Measurement and Data
describe and compare measurable attributes.
K.md.1 Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight.
Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.
K.md.2 Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in
common, to see which object has “more of”/“less of” the attribute,
and describe the difference. For example, directly compare the
heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
Classify objects and count the number of objects in each category.
K.md.3 Classify objects into given categories; count the numbers of objects
in each category and sort the categories by count. (Note: Limit
category counts to be less than or equal to 10.

My Little Place
Description: An application designed for children, where they can experiment with numbers,
shapes, colors, music, and even time.

Pros: customizable background, customizable sounds, fun games for kids, keyboard to play songs
Blank canvas for creating art. The main screen contains a protected parent area and a
protected “rate us” icon. The parental lock could be a bit stronger, as many kids will figure it
out on their own, but it’s still enough to prevent most kids from accessing the content
intended for grown-ups.
Cons: This app has a cost of 1.99.

Kids Learn Shapes FREE

Description: Learning shapes using real-life objects

✔ Recognizing shapes in their real-life settings. Hands-on, real-life way for kids to learn shapes,
children will learn to recognize shapes in their real-life context. The shapes currently included
are circle, rectangle, triangle, square, rhombus and oval
Pros: Students will learn different fun ways to learn about shapes. This App is also free.
Cons: App gives wrong information at times. It confuses students and technology devices
reboots after used.
Standards:
Geometry
Identify and describe shapes (squares, circles, triangles, rectangles,
hexagons, cubes, cones, cylinders, and spheres).
K.g.1 Describe objects in the environment using names of shapes, and
describe the relative positions of these objects using terms such as
above, below, beside, in front of, behind, and next to.
K.g.2 correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size.
K.g.3 Identify shapes as two-dimensional (lying in a plane, “flat”) or three-dimensional (“solid”).
Analyze, compare, create, and compose shapes.
K.g.4 Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes, in different
sizes and orientations, using informal language to describe their
similarities, differences, parts (e.g., number of sides and vertices/
“corners”) and other attributes (e.g., having sides of equal length).
K.g.5 Model shapes in the world by building shapes from components
(e.g., sticks and clay balls) and drawing shapes.
K.g.6 Compose simple shapes to form larger shapes. For example, “Can you
join these two triangles with full sides touching to make a rectangle?

Count, Sort and Match

Description: “Count, Sort and Match” simplifies key math concepts for preschool kids up to
age 6. The app helps kids to count to 20, spell numbers, and sort by colour, shape and size to
preschool children. The app provides clear direction, an easy interface and colourful graphics to
help keep younger kids engaged.

Pros: Students will learn a variety of math activities. They will not only count but also sort and
match the numbers. It comes if many different languages.
Cons: This is not a free app. It has a cost of 2.79

Kid’s math count to 100

Description: This application is a fun and useful way to learn to count. How to teach a child
numbers 1 to 100.This application allows you to choose the next number. Fun educational
counting. Numbers activities for kids.
Pros: This app is great because it helps students to learn how to count to 100 in a fun learning
way. It starts with level 1 and builds up from there.
Cons: It does not give specific instructions and does not contain sounds.

Counting and Cardinality

Know number names and the count sequence.
K.CC.1 Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
K.CC.2 Count forward beginning from a given number within the known
sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
K.CC.3 Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a
written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Count to tell the number of objects.
K.CC.4 Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities;
connect counting to cardinality.
a. When counting objects, say the number names in the standard
order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and
each number name with one and only one object.
b. Understand that the last number name said tells the number of
objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of
their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
c. Understand that each successive number name refers to a
quantity that is one larger.
K.CC.5 Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things
arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10
things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1–20, count
out that many objects.
Compare numbers.
K.CC.6 Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than,
less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g., by
using matching and counting strategies. (Note: Include groups with
up to ten objects.)
K.CC.7 Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals

Description: help children solve addition and subtraction problems, write number sentences,
and learn number facts for pairs of numbers that equal ten. Together with a collection of fun
games and activities featuring PBS KIDS characters from Curious George and Cyberchase.

Pros: help children solve addition and subtraction problems, write number sentences, and learn
number facts for pairs of numbers that equal ten. Children can use a smart board. \
Cons: This application can confused students, the instructions are not clear.

Number Hero: Addition - An Exciting Numbers Game

Description: A simple, but relatively fun and engaging maths app, ideal for students being
introduced to addition. Has a nice clear layout and the design is fresh and uncomplicated. The
landing page has buttons for two game play options, one is with numbers from 1-20 and the other
is with numbers from 1-81.

Pros: Directions are clear and teachers/ parents can try this app for free to see if they will like it.

Cons: Number Hero is a mathematical puzzle numbers games. Some children are not good with
puzzles.

Operations and algebraic thinking

understand addition as putting together and adding to, and understand
subtraction as taking apart and taking from.
K.oa.1 Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental
images, drawings, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal
explanations, expressions, or equations. (Note: Drawings need not
show details, but should show the mathematics in the problem – this
applies wherever drawings are mentioned in the Standards.)
K.oa.2 Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract
within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to represent the problem.
K.oa.3 Decompose numbers less than or equal to 10 into pairs in more
than one way, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each
decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 5 = 2 + 3 and 5 = 4 + 1
