Subject: Monday conferences

Hello teachers!

Our apologies for not making conferences last night – I was in the ER and Eric was with me. No
worries. I’m fine and recovering well today. Mondays are busy days in the ER, so we ended up
being there until 11 last night, missing conferences. However, we would love to hear from each
of you regarding our son, Nils, or perhaps we can catch each other at an upcoming school
function. We look forward to hearing how he’s doing with school work and progressing on the
goals you have set for him. We’d appreciate your feedback.

Thank you for all you do for Nils and for education. Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with your
families!

Hello Mr and Mrs Lee,

My name is Ian Hale and I have been Nils' student teacher in Mr. Laufenberg's Geography class
for the majority of the year. I am glad to hear that everything is going well after your visit to the
ER.

Nils is a very hard working student. His final grade in the first quarter was an A-. He turns all of
his assignments in on time and his work is generally of high quality. The only place where
Nils could improve is on his test scores. He got C's on his chapter 1 and chapter 3 tests for
example. Considering that he has a high A average on his homework assignments and his chapter
2 test was also an A, I would think that he is more than capable of maintaining that standard on
all of his work. I always hand out a study guide sheet a day or 2 before each test and we have
an in-class review that covers everything that he will see the day before the exam, so there aren't
any surprises on what to expect. I will also say that Nils has started off the second quarter very
well. He got an A on his first quiz on Western European geography and he has already
completed all of his homework assignments (and did them well) well before they are even
due. Nils also poses no behavioral issues at all. He is a very polite young man and is engaged in
learning and participating in class. I would say that Nils should just keep doing what he is doing,
and by the way he has started this 2nd quarter, I fully expect that he will. If you have any
additional questions do not hesitate to contact myself or Mr. Laufenberg and we will be
certain to contact you if anything should arise.

Thank you for your concern and I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving,

Ian Hale

Thank you for the feedback, Mr. Hale. We appreciate it and will talk with Nils about his
strengths and things he can work on. All the best to you in your continued education!

Sara
