Lesson : 6C – Masai Rite of Passage (basic edition) - Reading

Abbreviations: T = teacher; Ss = students

I. AIMS:

This lesson aims to help Ss to:

 Knowledge: have general knowledge about Masai Rite of Passage called “Eunoto”
 Language: learn some new words relating to the topic
 Skills: practice reading skills such as guessing meaning in context, scanning for specific information as well as
improve speaking skill through discussion activity in the post-reading part.

II. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

 Have an overview about “Eunoto”


 Acquire vocabulary used to talk about rituals
 Develop reading skills for guessing meaning in context and scanning for specific information
 Enhance speaking skill via answering and discussing ideas in the post-reading part.

III. APPROACH – TEACHING AIDS – MATERIALS:

period of time, not just one day.

The people called “Masai” in Africa do


something like that to celebrate their
becoming adults. Today, we read about
the Masai, a tribe in Afria, and their rite
of passage.
