SUBJECT: Fluid Requirements for Cold Weather Operation

DESCRIPTION OF CONCERN
Transmission failure can occur due to oil viscosity
changes during operation in cold ambient temperatures.
ACTION/CORRECTION
This bulletin provides the transmission fluid
requirements for extreme ambient temperature
applications, which is available in the Operator’s
Manual, page 5-8, and the Service Manual, Section
1002. See Figure 1.

It is recommended that a copy of this Service Bulletin


be put into the appropriate Parts Catalogs/Repair
Manuals for reference.

Change transmission fluids according to the
specifications listed in the Operator’s Manual or the
Service Manual at the next scheduled maintenance
and / or prior to the cold weather season.
• Ensure that the fluids that are used match those
specified per the specific ambient temperature
ranges.
• If climate changes are extreme, change fluid
seasonally.
NOTE: New Holland Mastergold SAE 15W-40 oil is
used in the production of all machines. It is the
responsibility of the customer to change to the
appropriate specified fluid per operating conditions.
