The Humans of Healthcare
The Story of Aruna, Nurse (Film)

“My family complains that I hardly ever spend time with them.
I understand where they’re coming from, I also want to spend
time with them. But when lives are at stake, I have to make a
choice, regardless of how hard it’s for me and the ones who love
me. I do it because it’s part of my job. It’s part of who I am.”

The Story of Ragesh, Pharmacist (Film)
“I’m here at 6 in the morning. I don’t take leaves. I don’t take vaca-
tions. Although it seems like I am just giving out medicines all day,
I believe it's an important job. When I see hundreds of suffering
people waiting in line for their pain to go away, I find meaning
in what I do. I find my purpose.”

The Story of Gayathri, Cleaning Lady (Film)

“They call me Amma. I think because I adore all of them. I feel

what the patients feel. I want them to reach home as soon as
possible. Which is why I try my best to make sure they’re treated
in a neat and clean place. I can’t treat them. But the least I can do
is maintain good hygiene in the hospital.”

Cleanliness Film
The film is about a nurse walking in the hospital premises.
We track her as she walks and talks about cleanliness and hygiene.

The film opens on a nurse entering the hospital campus.

SUPER: Manisha, Nurse

VO: I have been walking in from the same gate for last 8 years. This hospital has taught me everything.

She enters the hospital, a lady is cleaning using a vacuum cleaner.

She notices a strand of hair on the bed and moves it away.

VO: What many people miss, we notice. There is not a speck of dust that our eyes cannot catch.

Then she takes the stairs to the hospital corridors.

Behind her a guy begins to mop the steps, as she reaches the top, she keeps a sign stand that says
“Wet Floor" VO: It’s all about taking precautions.

She walks into a patient ward, there’s a bedsheet which is not tucked properly. She tucks it.
VO: Although everybody does their work perfectly, we always try to make things better.

She is washing her hands and wearing gloves.

VO: To take care of patients, it’s important to take care of everything. As a nurse, my responsibility is
not just to care for my patients, but to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in my hospital.

Nurse Talk Film

In the video, we show a nurse talking about her work and how she takes
care of her patients. We switch between the nurse speaking to the
camera, and she taking care of her patients and preparing reports.

“Empathy drives me to keep me going as a nurse. Keeping track of a

patient’s health is easier said than done. In between reviewing assign-
ments, taking physician notes, recording their health status, assisting
doctors, and double-checking, I don’t find time for myself. But because I
care about my patients, I can’t take it easy on my job.”

Doctor Talk Film

In the video, we show a doctor talking about his job and what inspires
him to work in the field of healthcare. We switch between the doctor
speaking to the camera, and him working.

“Being a doctor may sound “elite” or “cool”, but frankly this profession
is anything but that. People feel so because of the expenses involved.
They think doctors mint money. However, the truth is many of us have
taken hefty loans for education and made enormous sacrifices to get
here, which translates to a certain amount of fee. We just want to be
a better doctor. That’s all I care about.”
