ABSTRACT
The purpose of this qualitative study was to understand how public school
teachers are drained in debt and describe the coping mechanisms they employed.
teachers perceived their financial resources as: cash scarcity and loan dependence.
supplemental value of loans, negative effects of loans and proper attitude towards loan.
Building support system and finding other sources of income were the coping
aspects of indebtedness. Debts among public school teachers may have negative
impact on health and work commitment; thus hindering them to have healthier and
