As an educator, providing a harmless, comfortable classroom environment and
expanding chances for student learning are the most imperative factors in governing student behavior. I will describe my strategies for establishing and maintaining a well- managed environment to optimize learning opportunities. My strategies are highly influenced by Harry and Rosemary Wong. To make the classroom more stimulating and visually appealing, I will decorate it with examples of student work and real world experiences such as a trip around the world. To minimize student distraction, the stimuli work materials are in the back of the room and other information that I deem more important will be in the front or to the sides. These will include formulas to equations, and theories in my math on one of the side walls. I will definitely get to know their names and interests within the first week of school. All students’ interests, strengths, and cultural backgrounds are accepted and respected. I will treat all students will equality and fairness that includes confidentiality. On the first day of school and so forth, I will communicate my rules and expectations thoroughly and directly. I will make sure students know the expectations by displaying the rules and routines all around the classroom. I find it helpful to tell students what is expected of them and how to succeed in the class. It is also helpful to have a continuous flow of activities to keep students on track and insuring furthering education.
