What is Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®)?


Chartered Financial Analyst® is a professional designation given by the CFA® Institute, USA (formerly
known as the Association for Investment Management and Research - AIMR) that measures the
competence and integrity of financial analysts. Candidates are required to pass three levels of exams
covering areas such as accounting, economics, ethics, money management and security analysis.

CFA® is a program offered by CFA® institute, USA. The candidate is required to study for and pass three
levels exams in a sequential order and meet other requirements to become the CFA® charter.

Why CFA®?
A CFA® certificate is one of the highest awards conferred in the investment industry. It is an
internationally recognized designation. Chartered Financial Analysts work for investment banks, mutual
fund firms, hedge funds, brokerage houses, boutique money managers. The CFA® designation
represents the definitive mark of a competent financial analyst bound to the highest standards of ethical
behavior. There are approximately 100000 charter holders world wide.

How to become a CFA®?

Following are the steps for becoming the CFA® Charter

1. Meet the eligibility criteria


Step 1 One has to meet any one of the following requirements:

Entrance • Have a bachelor's (or equivalent) degree
Eligibility criteria.

• Be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program at the time of
registration.
OR
Step 2 • Have four years of qualified, professional work experience

2. Enroll with IMS Proschool and prepare for the exam


Proschool conducts classroom programs to train you for Level I exam. Refer

Register with
CFA® Institute, 3. Enroll and Register with the CFA® Institute USA
USA CFA® Program is offered by CFA® Institute, USA. Therefore one has to enroll
and register online with them on their website https://www.cfainstitute.org.
First time candidates are required to pay an enrollment fee along with the exam
registration fee for Level I exam. The enrolment fee is a one time fee, the
candidates have to pay only the exam registration fee subsequently.

Step 4 Registration with the CFA® usually opens about 11 months before each exam.
The Level I exam is held in June and December each year whereas Level II and

4. Apply for Membership after clearing Level 1 exam


After clearing the Level I exam you have to apply for membership to CFA®

5. Passing the examinations


You need to pass Level I, Level II and Level III exams successfully.

Step 6 6. Work experience

Step 7 7. CFA® Charterholder Membership


Become CFA® To qualify as a CFA® charterholder member, you must be a regular member and

8. Maintain Your Charterholder Status


Step 8 Once you become a CFA® charterholder, you must comply with the CFA®
Maintain Charter Institute conditions, requirements, policies, and procedures for CFA®

How to enrol for IMS Proschool Programs?
You can enrol online for the program on www.proschoolonline.com OR send the duly filled Application
Form (attached to this prospectus) along with the following documents to Proschool Centre (Mumbai or
Pune) where you would like to attend the program.
i. Two passport size colour photographs.
ii. Self-attested photocopies of the highest qualification till date.
iii. The payment has to be made by Demand Draft. The DD should be drawn in favour of “IMS Proschool
Pvt Ltd.” payable in Mumbai.
iv. Those applying for waivers, need to attach the supporting documents for the waiver
