Number Talk: October Day 12


Subject: Math Activity: Add ‘Em Up Setting: 2nd Grade General Education
Date: 10-25-17 # of students: 25 Time: 1:30 pm – 1:50 pm (20 minutes total)
Statement of -Each student will show at least one strategy to Accommodations:
Objective: solve the addition problem and participate in a

Materials: -Whiteboards/markers/erasers Whiteboards
-Smart board slides for Day 12 of October number (multisensory
talk with blank area to show student work support)
-Sentence starter reminders posters

Procedure: 1. Move students to the rug (1-2-3 code) with Sentence starter
their Chips and Salsa partners. posters hung
2. Review October goals for number talks and (visual reminder)
why we are doing number talks.
3. Remind students about sentence starters and Partner talk

their strategies. Between each strategy
prompt students to use the sentence starters.
7. Repeat the process with (14+14, 13+12,
13+14) Encourage students to make
connections between the addition sentences.
Closing: Remind students that we will be doing number talks
everyday and that it is important to have as many
people share each time. If they didn’t share today
they will in the future.
-Move students back to seats (1-2-3)
