Executive Summary

Monde d’ Aslan Boutique Hotel is a Narnia themed accommodation


that will feature unique rustic styled themed rooms, nourishing
food and beverages, the establishment includes other facilities
like restaurant, function room, spa , rooftop garden and kiddie
room. Monde d’ Aslan envisions itself to be a prominent
accommodation by providing service beyond expectation in a
remarkable experience of the guest and International standards of
hospitality industry. The proposed business will cater primarily
to domestic tourists, families and international tourists as its
target market. The hotel will market its brand through media such
as Television and radio advertisements, newspapers, internet, and
printed advertisement such as brochures and flyers. The major
competitors of Monde d’ Aslan will be C Boutique, Grand Sierra,
and Le Monet Hotel. Monde d’ Aslan will be located along Legarda
Road, Baguio City. The establishment is within the city center
and it will be accessible to all guests to reach different
tourist destinations of Baguio City. Monde d’ Aslan will have a
total of 75 rooms. 15 Magnificent Peter (Executive Suite),15
Gentle Susan(Twin Deluxe Rooms) 20 Just Edmund (Deluxe Rooms), 25
Valiant Lucy (Standard Rooms) that can accommodate 180 pax.
Narnians restaurant can accommodate a 200 pax and it will be a
Family Casual dining restaurant that offers a French and Asian
cuisines. The Wardrobe Rooftop Garden features a vicinity of
nature in Baguio City and it can be a place to celebrate special
events which can accommodate 100 pax. The Fire Flowers Spa and
Eve’s Kiddie Room will all be located at the ground floor. The
hotel will also have a function room located at 2nd floor that
can accommodate 200 pax. The restaurant will open from ( 6:00 A.M
until 9:00 P.M.), the Spa will open from (8:00 A.M. until 10:00
P.M.) and the Kiddie Room will open from (9:00 A.M. until 8:00
P.M.). The hotel will employ well trained professionals to
deliver excellent service towards their guests. It will be hiring
1 manager, 19 personnel for the rooms division Department, 24

personnel for Food and Beverage Department, 6 personnel for the


Recreational Department, 2 personnel for the Sales and Marketing
Department, 6 personnel for the Accounting Department and, 2
personnel for the Engineering and Maintenance Department. The
total member of personnel that the hotel will have will
concentrate on its contribution for the conservation of the
environment like proper waste disposal, long term programs for
the community each department will choose a selection of students
to be educational scholars in the University of Baguio. The
proponents conclude that this business is feasible. For the
reason of Baguio City attracts tourists yearly, has an accessible
location, unique theme and concept, well trained employees, high
standard quality products and services, availability of funding
sources and has a great potential to generate profit in a short
period of time. Through the effective management and the
marketing strategies, it will be possible to expand the hotel for
the years to come. The hotel will continue to innovate and
develop products, services, amenities and facilities it will
offer.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INDUSTRY

The hospitality industry is much broader than most other

a handful of different businesses, but this industry applies to
nearly any company that is focused on guests’ satisfaction and
meeting leisurely needs rather than basic ones. It covers a wide
range of service related fields including accommodation,
transportation, recreation, entertainment, events and food and
beverage. While this industry is very broad, there are some
defining aspects that are important to understand.

One of the most defining aspects of this industry is that it


focuses on guests’ satisfaction. While this is true of nearly
every business, this industry relies entirely on guests’ being
happy. This is because these businesses are based on providing
luxury services. Very few hospitality businesses provide a basic
service that people need, like food or clothing. Regardless of
the business, this industry relies heavily on providing an
excellent level of service.

Another defining aspect of this industry is its reliance on


disposable income and leisure time. For this reason, the majority
of these businesses are for tourists or rich patrons. If
disposable income decreases due to a slump or recession, then
these are often the first businesses to suffer because customers
won’t have the extra money to enjoy their services. Another
defining aspect is its theme. This doesn’t apply to every
business in this industry, but many of them use a certain theme
to attract customers.

Hospitality industry operates 365 days a year and 24 hours a day,


hence, it is an industry that is open to serve every guests. It
is one of the fastest growing industries nowadays together with
tourism industry. The hospitality industry caters to the
different human needs. It ensures the service and treatment to

Description of the Proposed Business

A Boutique Hotel is a small and intimate hotel, halt in a


stylish design decor with a personal note. It has a unique
character and distinguishes itself from other hotel brands. It it
true to its heritage, it provides guests with great and ultra-
personalized service and is typically situated in a fashionable
urban location.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, the lodging


industry has become increasingly over-supplied with big
monopolies of hotel brands. Boutique hotels are believed to have
been invented in the early 1980s. The definition of a boutique
hotel varies, especially among the hotel industry's primary
players. However, the majority of boutique hotel operators,
creators, and owners can all agree on the following primary
features of boutique hotels: architecture, design and service.

The term was used initially in USA and the UK. While the
first boutique hotels opened in London and San Francisco in 1981,
the term ‘boutique’ was born when in 1984, when Ian Schrager and
his business partner Steve Rubell opened together the Morgans
Hotel in New York City, comparing it to a ‘boutique’.

The proposed name of the Business is “Monde d Aslan”. This is


derived in French that means “World of Aslan”. Aslan is the lion
character in the famous movie, Narnia. The Hotel logo is composed
of the face of Aslan in brown circle which symbolizes the world
of Narnia. The Lion represents royalty and power that can be
recognized and characterized in the nature of a true, fierce,
lion. The proposed business aims to provide a king and queen
treatment to the guests; while also providing a luxurious and
rustic elegant ambiance as the brown color of the logo implies.

The Restaurant's name is “The Narnians Restorante". "Narnians" is


a term to address the living creatures of Narnia as derived in
the movie, 'Narnia'. While 'Restorante' is the French term for
“Restaurant”. With this, the Restaurant offers French cuisines
and Narnians-inspired dishes with a Casual Family Service. The
logo has an image of Mr.Tumnus which is the first Narnian Lucy
saw in the story. It is coloured yellow to represent a positive
ambiance and freshness of the food and beverage that the
restaurant offers.

The name Wardrobe Garden is inspired by 'The Wardrobe' in the


movie, Narnia, which is the doorway from the human world to the
majestic world of Narnia. This garden will be placed at the
rooftop of the hotel to give different feels in the whole
facility. It will cater as grand hall that can be used for any
events in the hotel. It can also be converted as a recreational
place the guests could visit during their stay giving them a
total experience of Narnia world. The green colour of the font
symbolizes the relaxing place of the garden as well as the
mysterious place to visit in promotional advertisements. The
garden will serve as one of the major attractions to the whole
hotel - the Narnia experience.

The Fire Flower. The flower is magical in the world of Narnia.


The juice of the fire flowers was used in the healing cordial
that was given to Lucy, by Father Christmas. It could heal almost
any wound or sicknesses which make it a powerful asset to have.
With this, the spa named, 'The Fire Flower Spa' is inspired to
this fact in the movie. The spa offers a different heat massage
with the aroma of flowers to provide healing and relaxation to
the guests. The Fire Flower Spa ought to provide a relaxing and
healing ambiance literally and figuratively speaking.

The proposed Kid’s playroom is named, Eve’s Kiddie


Playroom; the name “Eve” is based on the history of Narnian
mythology of the sons and daughters of eve. The four (4) colors
on the side represents the sons and daughters of eve or the main
characters of the first Narnia book, the sons Peter the
magnificent (brown),Edmund the just (green), the daughters Susan
the gentle (blue) Lucy the valiant (red).

seasonality, this tend to give difficulty to the suppliers to

supplies as well as always maintain the stockroom to avoid
shortage of goods in the hotel

The employees are unstable in the establishment. And when


it happened there would be a difficulty in hiring new employees,
train them and putting trust on them. It will be waste on time

The Narnians Restorante

The Narnians Restorante is a casual dining restaurant that


offers a French and Asian Cuisine that accommodates 200 persons.
It will also offers delicious inspired Narnia courses, desserts
and refreshing beverages. The operating hour will be from 5:00
a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and the business hours 6:00 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Wardrobe Garden

The Wardrobe Garden is a rooftop garden over viewing of the


city of Baguio. A function hall for weddings, birthdays and other
promotional or hotel events that has 100 seating capacity. The
operating hour will be from 5 a.m. to 11: p.m. and the business
hour will be from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Eve’s Playroom

The Eve’s Playroom will have a Narnia inspired style room


with thirty (30) children capacity. It has a wide variety of play
equipment, items and a mini-library that features the chronicles
of Narnia, Bible Story and other fantasy books. The operating
hour will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm and the business hour will
be from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Fire Flower Spa

The operating hour will be 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and the
business hour will be 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. It offers a
different variety of healing treatments.

Body Massage

Aromatherapy massage- which uses essential oils to achieve


different purposes, most commonly relaxation. Sometimes the oils
are created by companies to achieve different effects, and the
therapist asks the guests to smell a few different oils to find
out which one most appeals to them.

small tub of heated paraffin wax followed by thorough rinsing and

are the people or the employees of the establishment while the
External Customers are the people that the proposed business will
be targeting their products and services which are Domestic
Tourists, Families, International Tourists.

The establishment will be using the necessary procurement


process in hiring the employees of the establishment. The basis
of the establishment in hiring this employees are the required
skills and descriptions needed for the job for each employee.

The location of the establishment is located at Legarda


Road, Baguio City. The establishment is within the city centre
which will give accessibility to the guest as it is near to
various business establishment, popular buildings such as SM City
Baguio, and tourist destinations such as Burnham Park, this will
