1 DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
1.1. PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Ayanunga hydroelectric project (Project) is a 20 MW (nom) run of river scheme located
in the district of Monzón, province of Humalies, and department of Huanuco, Perú.
An intake weir and desander structure on the Ayanunga River. The weir will include:
A 4.1 km long 2.3 x 2.3 m closed culvert, with open channel flow, to the penstock
forebay structure.
An intake weir and desander structure on the Pan de Azucar River. The weir will
include:
A 2.65 km long 2.0 x 2.0 m closed culvert, with open channel flow, to the penstock
forebay structure.
A forebay structure with gravity close, hydraulic open, penstock intake gate and level
and flow measuring equipment.
A 312 m long, 1.9 m internal diameter high pressure GRP surface penstock, a steel
bifurcation, and two branches 20 m long, and 1.2 m diameter to the inlet of the turbines
in the powerhouse.
A surface powerhouse facility located immediately upstream from the Ayanunga and
Pan de Azúcar rivers.
A 4.3 km long single circuit 138 kV transmission line to the existing 8 de Agosto
switchyard.
A new three bay 138 kV outdoor new 8 de Agosto switchyard incorporating the existing
single bay 8 de Agosto switchyard. This new switchyard will be connected to the SEIN at
the existing 138 kV Tingo María substation through an existing 138 kV single circuit
transmission line.
The electromechanical Plant will be located at various locations within the Project area and
are described in more detail later in this specification.
The anticipated access route to be used for major equipment deliveries is by paved
highway from Lima, via the towns of La Oroya, Huánuco and Tingo María. From Tingo
María 65 km of unpaved road extends to the Project site as shown in Figure 3.
