CHAPTER I
Introduction
Motivation can affect our daily lives. It can be good or bad. Motivating
someone with positive perspective can be make something possible but motivating
someone with negative perspective can affect the way to success. According to
Merriam Webster, Motivation is the act or process of giving someone a reason for
be competent and knowledgeable in order to impart the knowledge they could give
person and with his general development. The teacher must recognize the
individual differences among the students and adjust instructions that best suit to
the learners. As educators, we play varied and vital roles in the classroom.
especially in school. Teachers can help the students to work hard. Teachers
participate in the school activities and also it can affect their absences in class. The
teachers must know their styles on how they can handle or approached the
student. By giving some activities that can make their mind become active and by
giving rewards who attempt to increase the vital student motivation. When the
student is motivated, the lessons will easily take place. Motivating students to learn
students success. Attendance is important because student will succeed when they
attend school consistently. Teachers has a big role to the students life. It is difficult
to the teachers because they need to exert effort to lead the students into a life that

qualitatively different outcomes. Teachers are the key actors who shape the
learning environment and whose main tasks include motivating students to learn.
Teachers can differ in the way in which they try to motivate students to learn and
present study explored how teachers’ personal beliefs and contextual factors
strategies. Nine grade six teachers at schools with varying student populations
were interviewed. Based on their self- reported motivational strategies, two clusters
well with their personal beliefs and preferences, whereas some teachers in the
reasons for more controlling teaching strategies were mainly contextual, including
‘factors from above’ such as national standards or high-stakes testing, but mainly
suggestions for further research are provided. The past decade has witnessed an
increase in research on teacher motivation which has been proved a crucial factor
well- being. To address the constant call for teacher motivation research, this paper
