3) Placement, Induction and Internal mobility have huge impact on effective completion of
projects. Take any project of your choice, visualise these activities and explain these
functions with reference to that project.

4) What are the objectives of Performance appraisal? How does a sound performance
appraisal aid in Project management?

5) What are trade unions? How do they facilitate relationship? What impact can trade
unions have on Projects?

6) What do you understand by ‘occupational hazards’? If you are a supervisor in a big


construction Project, how would you ensure employee safety? Explain your answer with
suitable examples.

1) How do you define a project? Explain the societal forces which have made project
management imperative?

2) “Studying the technical, financial, marketing and managerial feasibility is of paramount


importance any project management” Discuss.

3) If you have been appointed as Project Manager for the Polavaram Project explains the
processes of project planning, organising, scheduling, control and termination of the
project.

4) Any Project whether public or private has its social costs and social benefits. Therefore
examination of more commercial profitability does not suffice. If the government of the
newly formed Telangana state is contemplating creating an industrial Hub of 1000 acres
in every district head quarters, discuss what according to you would be the social costs
and benefits?

Assignment II Term

Answer the following: Marks: 120 will be reduced


to 30 marks

1) How does the concept of Project Finance differ from traditional Corporate Finance?
Discuss the Pros and cons of Project Finance.

2) You have a choice of becoming Project Manager of any two of the following Projects:
(a) Poll Campaign of Narendra Modi the then Chief minister of Gujarat in Uttar Pradesh.
(b) Construction of Polavaram Project.
(c) Aids Awareness Campaign among High School Children.
(d) Development of software Programme For your client. You are required to identify the
elements of Project Cost Budget for the two Projects which you choose and
substantiate the reasons.

3) Your employer is planning to promote you as Project Manager. In order to test your
capabilities in Project Management, he has asked you to identify, the risks which are
associated with launching of a SEZ at a village in West Bengal. Incidentally, he tells you
that he cannot forget the experience of Tata Motors at Siliguri. You are also required to
explain how you will mitigate the risks which you have identified.

4) Discuss the various sources of Project Finance, both conventional, institutional, venture
capital as also the innovative instruments which can be used to raise finances.

Instruction to the Students in Answering Assignments:


1. Assignments are compulsory for all the students. The assignments carry 30 marks in each
course.

2. Write legibly. Keep word limit wherever it is indicated. Leave margin of 2 inches on left
side of the page.

3. Your answers must be precise with sufficient course content. Send each course
assignment separately tagged (All Three in one bundle) in one cover since they are
corrected by different evaluators.

4. Write your Name, Enrolment Number, Course Code and Course Title on top FIRST PAGE
of each answer script of each course. Please mention the programme title like PGDPM
etc., on top of envelop that contain assignment answers.

5. Assignments submitted without proper Enrolment number and name will be rejected.

6. Assignments (hand written) for each course to be enclosed. Incomplete answers and
assignments received after due date will be rejected. Xerox copy is also not acceptable.

7. Candidates who have not submitted the assignment answers as per the stipulated due
date and prescribed norms are not eligible to sit in Term-End Examinations. Late
assignments will not be entertained.

8. In case you cannot submit assignment answer personally at the Centre for Distance and
Virtual Learning, you may send them by Registered post so as to reach be the due date.
The University will not be responsible for any postal delay. However, you may keep the
postal receipt and a Xerox copy of your assignments. They may help in postal delay/loss.

9. Send your assignment answers to the Section Officer, Centre for Distance and Virtual
Learning, University of Hyderabad, Golden Threshold, Nampally station Road, Abids,
Hyderabad-500 001 on or before : 06.01.2017.
