Welcome to Algebra Honors

Common Core 2017-2018

Ms. Stein

The most important aspects of this class are that we all

work together, share ideas, help each other, as well as do our best!

1. Daily Required Materials: a. Binder (separate from other classes)

b. 4 Dividers
c. Graphing Calculator TI-84 or higher (MANDATORY)
d. Pens or Pencils
e. Lined Paper

2. Binder Requirements: It is important for us to keep our binders ORGANIZED. This will help us
understand when studying, and help us get better results. Binders should be divided into three sections:
1. Info Section
2. Classwork: includes the do now and daily notes
3. Homework with lined paper
4. Assessments/Exit Tickets

3. Homework: Homework will help us recognize weaknesses and strengths, and it will give us all a
chance to better understand mathematical topics. Homework is given daily and will be checked in a
random fashion so be prepared every day with a complete HW assignment. If there is a question you do
not understand you may NOT keep it blank, instead please write a question in its place to ask the next
day. Your child starts off with a 100 homework average, each missing homework will result in 5 points
off that 100. A half credit is a deduction of 2 points. Homework is always posted in the classroom
and on E-Board daily.

4. Grades: Every marking period will consist of graded tests, quizzes/projects and homework.
Tests: 45%
Quizzes: 30%
Homework: 15%
Participation: 10% (Participation will be graded on a rubric scale)

****PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST MAINTAIN AN AVERAGE OF 85 IN ORDER TO STAY IN THE

ACCELERATED PROGRAM*****
5. Absences and Lateness: It is the absentees’ responsibility to make arrangements to copy someone’s
notes when absent, get missing worksheets, and make up any tests or quizzes missed. Homework is
always posted on E-Board; therefore, absentees should at least try the homework assignment and hand
it in the next day. If missing tests, quizzes, or projects are not made up a zero will be given.

6. Class Rules:
• R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Find out what it means to me!
• BE PREPARED: Bring binder, calculator and something to write with EVERY DAY.
• Follow directions and come to class on time.
• Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
• If you need to go to the nurse, office, restroom etc. please have your agenda book already filled
out. Stay in your seat and raise your hand.
• Remain in your seat after class until the teacher dismisses you.

7. Extra Help: Scheduled extra help days either at 7:30am sharp or 2:35pm sharp the week of an
assessment. Student will be told in advance when these days are each week. They will also have access
to the schedule on E-Board.

8. Textbook: It must be covered and can be left at home unless told otherwise.
