Dear Friend,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord
is still moving by His Spirit in this day we live. A Christian woman called the
church the other day asking for prayer for a family member, who was 7 months
pregnant and had overdosed. The doctors didn't give her much of a chance to
live and were discussing with the family about taking the baby before the mom
passed. We prayed in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, the Giver of life, and
He answered! He gave this young woman a second chance at life! The last
report I received is that she is fine and the baby is fine. We are believing that she
will open her heart to the Lord and ask Him to save her. But isn't God great?
The Bible is full of accounts where the power of God was present to heal
people. As a matter of fact, just before He went to the cross to die for our sins,
the Lord Jesus raised a man named Lazarus from the dead! Unfortunately, some
not only didn't believe but they also were mad about it! The reason is that,
"...many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus." Some folks say that
the Lord wasn't accepted by Jewish people of His day, but that is not true. Many
believed on Him. Honestly, many believe on Him today as well, because people
are searching for truth. Truth is something that is lived from the heart. It is
called a personal excellence, free from falsehood and deceit.
Many people followed the Lord into Jerusalem, and as He was on the way
they took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, crying out,
"Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the
Lord" (John 12:13). We now celebrate that day and call it "Palm Sunday." But
as Christians, we recognize the Lord as the King of our hearts everyday! This
was an interesting time in the life of the Lord Jesus. He as about to offer His life
for our sins, though no one knew it at the time. In Luke 19: 29-40 we read the
account Luke wrote of. He sent two of His disciples into the village to fetch a
colt that was tied there. He told them to loose him, and bring him to the Lord.
"And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him,
Because the Lord hath need of him." The Lord always uses things and people
that no one ever used before. He takes vessels to use for His glory that no one
would ever think to use. You would think the Lord would choose a colt that was
tamed and calm and experienced for such an important occasion. But not Jesus.
He knows what to do with those that have never been groomed by man. The
mighty Creator took one of His lowly creations and gave it the honor of carrying
Him into the most important week of His earthly life. Was that colt excited?
Probably. I can almost see it prancing as He entered Jerusalem. Would the
crowds scare this inexperienced colt? Probably. But he was calm under the
weight of the Master. Did the colt know where to go and what to do? No, but he
took directions from the Lord, who guided him to where he needed to go. The
Lord Jesus gave this inexperienced colt an experience like no other before Him
or after Him! Why shouldn't we offer our hearts to the Lord Jesus so He can
guide us in His perfect will, too? Are you fearful you will get lost along the
way? Not if He is in control!
One of my most favorite verses in this account is verse 38, saying,
"Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven,
and glory in the highest." It reminds me of the angel's announcement of the
birth of Christ, when he said, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace, good will toward men" (Luke 2:14). This was an important time in the
history of humanity. God's perfect will and plan would be accomplished within a
few short days and the divide that sin caused in heaven and earth would soon be
rectified! Only God Himself could span the gulf sin created. Only God Himself
could reconcile man with God again. This King would overcome every
transgression, sin, and fault of man from the beginning of recorded history all
throughout eternity! Every verse of Scripture written of Him would soon be
fulfilled and accomplished by our Lord Jesus Christ! No wonder He said, "I tell
you that, if these (the people who were praising Him)should hold their peace,
the stones would immediately cry out." Why? Because it was a time of
fulfillment of Scripture. The time had come for all things written of Him to be
completed. Nothing would stop the plan of God for us! That is how important
His suffering and death on the cross was to Almighty God. All we need do is
turn to Him with our hearts and repent of our sins and ask Him to forgive us and
come into our lives and be our Lord and Savior. He will do just that if we give
Him the reigns of our hearts. Let today be the day the Lord Jesus comes into
your heart. You will never be the same!
I invite you to our church services, Sunday at 10 am and 7 pm, and
Wednesday at 7:30 pm. May God bless you "more abundantly!"
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
