THE DEFINITION OF RACISM
1. Biology
- In prehistoric time, human stereotyped plants and animals that look dangerous based on their color and
shape to distinguish them from safe plants and animals.
- Our brains are programmed so that we prefer to stay with the ones that look similar to us in order to build
civilization.
2. Media
- Nowadays, social media always convince people to believe in a particular way whether it’s actually true or
not. Most people blindly follow the trend without rethinking because they conform to the society.
3. Convenience
- Stereotyping helps us get an idea of what that person is like, based on their physical appearance.
- As an example, doctors stereotype fat people as more likely to have diabetes and high blood pressure
which makes it easier for them to do their job.
