INTRODUCTION
The first rocket was created around early 10th century; Song
dynasty, China, but solid documentary evidence does not
appear until 13th century. The technology spreaded across
Eurasia during mid-13th century as the wake of Mongol
invasions. Rockets were used as weapon in China, Korea, India,
and also Europe countries. As the technology developed,
scientists found that the use of liquid propellants instead of
gunpowder greatly improved the effectiveness of rocket
artillery in World War I, and opened up the possibility of
manned spaceflight after 1918. Nowadays, rockets were not use
for war, but mostly use for researching and discovering things
in outer space and universe. For example, NASA; National
Aeronautics and Space Administration, was established in
1958. It is a United States government agency that is
responsible for science and technology related to air and
space.

The Newton’s Third law states that action is equal to the

reaction. In this project we will add a air to produce the action
force to push the rocket forward and the rocket will be the
reaction force. It is also related to the Newton’s second law too,
the rocket will fly up in the air and the total force of the rocket
will be accelerate up according to the formula ΣF=ma. The
gravity will also pull down the rocket to slow it down until it
accelerate down the ground.
OBJECTIVE

The rocket can stay in the air as

long as possible

MATERIALS

SOFT
DRINK
BOTTLES

STAPLER

SPRAY
PAINT

DUCT
TAPE
PROCEDURE
1.Prepare your soft drinks bottles, cut one in ½, then insert
one whole bottle in it to make a two-sided bottle.

2.Get rid of one of the water bottle lid and insert the cone-
shaped plastic with a size of the lid to weight the rocket.

3.Cut the last bottle along the tag line, we’ll use the
middle part of the bottle, the rest will be use to made the
fins.

4.Create the wings by divided the remaining plastics into

large piece of plastic, fold it in half, make 4 of them with
the same size.

5.Attach the wings on the plastic piece which is the

middle part of a bottle. Perpendicularly.

6.Attach the finished plastic piece with the wings to the

bottom of the two-sided rocket body.

7.Secure the whole rocket with A LOT of duct tape. Then

spray paint and decorate the rocket.
ANALYSIS OF
RESULT

This rocket use 3 soft drink bottles. The first bottle

act as the body of our rocket. The second bottle
sticks with the body but contains some of the water
and another bottle we used as the bottom part to
attach the wings. A scrap of the bottle was used as
wings, which we cut the scraps about 15x20cm in 4
pieces and folded in half. We assay it by throwing it
and the result is good enough. The head of the rocket
was the heaviest part in our rocket because we don’t
want our rocket to spin and we used one type of
plastic that almost the same with our bottle to be
ahead of our rocket. This causes our rocket
permanent and can stay in the air for a long time.

MEASUREMENT

Height = 50.5 cm.

Circumference = 28 cm.

CONCLUSION
We expect this rocket to fly the highest on the
competition. Based on our design, the center of the
gravity will be on the center to make the rocket doesn’t
tilt much and our materials are very light so the rocket will
accelerate faster according to the Newton’s second law.
We also design the rocket to prevent the air resistance on
a narrow part to decrease the air resistance force which
will make the rocket accelerate more.

We should have more time producing the

rocket in class. I think it would be better
if the teacher prepare the materials to
work on because we need to buy things
to produce the rocket. We also think
that the lab report should be send later
on after we did the competition because
we could write the lab report with an
accurate and clear details. The last
things I think is we should have a trail to
test our performance of the rocket
before the competition so we could
improve our rocket.
