LESSON AIMS: by the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
- identify the months of the year, in a chart;
- classify months according to the season they are part of;
- make up sentences, using the prompts for: can – asking for permission;
- make up sentences, by their own, using the modal verb can.
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: -some students might need further help and extra indications in
solving the tasks and they may also need some of these indications to be given in Romanian;
Anticipated problems: If students have problems understanding the English tasks, they will be
Activity 1: Warm-up
Procedure:
Teacher asks for the absents. The student on duty tells the absents. Teacher asks students to sing
the song Bingo. Students sing.

Procedure:
Teacher asks the pupils to open their copybooks and show the homework. The teacher checks the
homework and marks it. The students show their copybooks. While the teacher checks the
homework, he asks one student to read a sentence.
The student reads. The procedure goes on until all the sentences are read.

Time: 2 min
Aim: identify the months of the year in the chart, writing three months for each season they are part
of
Procedure:
Teacher asks the pupils, in the classroom, to look for the months of the year in the table on
Worksheet 1. There are two levels for this worksheet; for level 1 the students have to find the
months in the chart, without any help, and for the level 2 the months are given and students have
to find them. The students complete the task.
Teacher asks one student at a time to read a month. The student reads. The procedure goes on
until all the months are read.
The teacher asks students to complete Worksheet 2 , in pairs, by writing the months for each
season. Students perform the task.
After they have completed the task, the teacher asks one of the students to come at the flipchart
and write a month, at a time, for each season.
The student writes. The activity goes on until all months are written.

Time: 20 min
Aims: - to make up questions and answers using the given prompts and write the sentences on the
working sheet;
Procedure:
Teacher gives to the students Worksheet 3 and asks them to make up sentences, individually,
using the given prompts.
Students write. Worksheet 3 has two levels, for level 1, students have to write the question
and the answer and for level 2 students have to copy the given sentences.
After finishing, the teacher asks one student at random to read a sentence. The procedure goes
on until all sentences are read. If it is needed, the sentences will gently be corrected.

Aim: to make up sentences using the images starting with the information given;
Procedure:
The teacher asks students to make up questions using the cards.
Students say sentences.
Can I open the book?
Can I use your pen with ball?
Can I drink a glass of milk?
Can I stand up?
Can I sit down? etc.
Interaction: T-SS, S-T
