List all ethical transgressions committed by the lawyers in the story, particularly

District Attorney Walsh committed the following ethical transgressions:

1. Canon 1: Rule 1.01 – A lawyer shall not engage in unlawful, dishonest, immoral or deceitful
conduct.
Rule 1.03 – A lawyer shall not, for any corrupt motive or interest, encourage any suit or
proceeding or delay any man’s cause.
- DA Walsh committed dishonesty when asked if he instructed the police witness to
include in his statement the past case against the accused (killing a past partner) in
order to cloud the judgment of the jury and.
- He purposely intends to cause a misfire in an effort to obtain a new trail.
2. Canon 8 – A Lawyer shall conduct himself with courtesy, fairness and candor towards his
professional colleagues and shall avoid harassing tactics against opposing counsel.
- The way DA Walsh treated his subordinate and took the case from her is a violation
of the canon. He also has not been candid he suggested the witness to implicate the
accused again.
3. Canon 10 – A lawyer owes candor, fairness and good faith to the court.
Rule 10.01- A lawyer shall not do any falsehood, nor consent to the doing of any in court; nor
shall mislead or allow the court to be misled by any artifice.
- DA Walsh purposely misled the court about the availability of a witness in Florida.
4. Canon 11 – A Lawyer shall observe and maintain the respect due to the court and to judicial
officers and should insist on similar conduct to others.
- DA Walsh disrespected the Judge when the case was dismissed against him.
5. Canon 12: Rule 12.04 – A lawyer shall not unduly delay a case, impede the execution of
judgment or misuse court processes.
- DA Walsh intended to delay the case by causing a misfire in an effort to obtain a
new trial because of the unavailability of one witness.
