Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This is an activity that acknowledges Universal Design for Learning
because it allows the students to create with using their own ideas. Giving them an outlet to put their ideas
down on a screen. Teaching them how to branch off one idea onto another. The website even allows the
students to have control on how the layout looks. For instance, they can change the color, font, size, or the
shape of your brainstorming.

Lesson idea implementation: For this unit of study, I would l introduce this activity by incorporating the
concept of brainstorming. What I mean is, class in Language Arts we talk about how we must first always
begin with brainstorming, because that will help us come up with an overall final piece. Then proceed to
explaining how brainstorming is not only beneficial to just Language Arts, but to other subjects like; Social
Studies. I would present an awesome new website to the students called “Bubbl.us.” Explaining to them how
it’s a website that creates your own personal mind map. With this website, I want the entire class to create a
mind map on someone who made a difference in American History or an event that change America forever.

You would first need to create an account with “bubbl.us.com,” and start creating I want you guys to use your
research skills and find information on an event of person who changed history. I want this mind map to be
big, showing me that you are learning to build off your ideas. Mind maps show the progression of your
knowledge, so try to make as many connections as you can. Have at least a minimum of twenty bubbles filled
with vital information on your person or event. I am giving you until Friday to do this, so that is plenty of time.
This project and this new website I’ve shown you will enhance your research, organization, and your time
management skills. Be creative and have fun!

Reflective Practice: This is a great project, because as I said before it will enhance the student’s organization
skills, brainstorming skills, research skills, and time management skills. These skills are very important for their
future, so I think it is important for them to learn this at an early age. What even better about this project you
do not just have to use this just for this project. It can be used as a part of your thinking process for when you
complete other projects. In my opinion, I think this activity will strengthen both their skills and their
independence.
