PREFACIO.
do su ayuda.
Deseamos patentizar nuestro agradecimiento al Sr. Lic. Raúl Montoya Retta, Director General de Prepara-
torias de la U.A.N.L. por su ayuda y confianza que nos ha brindado y^_a la Lic. Alma Patricia Madrazo
Hasta ahora has lie

i . ' 1020115231
Observa:
SU ITS (NEUTRO )
YOUR (DE UD.,UDS.)

Observaciones:
Examples.
The covers OF THE books. The massacre innoceots. 2.

4.1. READING:
COMMUNICATION SATELLITES.
Communication among nations is a very important aspect for good relationships among people..We are
human beings who live in a very complicated world full of good and evil, but this world is our world
and we have to make an effort to improve the relatiortships among the citizens of all nations. Communi-
cation is completely necessary in any level: among individuals and among nations..
At present we have very important means of communication: the radio, the television and the telephone.
We visited the moon with the astronauts in 1969 thanks to the T.V. We usually see games on T.V. at the
same time they are happening very far from us.
How does this miracle happen? Well, there are short waves, long waves and the micro-waves. The short
waves travel very long distances and the long waves travel short distances. For example, the radio
stations in Monterrey use long waves to transmit their programs. However the transmissions to long dis^
tances were always complicated due to the atmospheric pressure and also because the Earth is round
and micro-waves travel in a straight way, and anthens cannot be installed in the ocean or in other com
plicated places. This problem, as well as others was solved when man learned to use satellites for
communication. The first satellite had a mirror that received and reflected signals. They were also
large polyester balls inflated with gas and covered with alumminum. These satellites received the waves
of signals constantly and a station op the Earth tuned in the signals. t
Some satellites magnified the signals or recorded messages daily for the day after. The first satelli-
tes traveled rapidly around the Earth like the moon, but it was necessary to wait until the satellite
passed over that specific place to get the signals.
The new stationary satellites travel around the Earth at the same speed as our planet, and therefore
the satellites are always over the same place of our planet.
Telstar, Pajaro Madrugador and Syncom III are stationary satellites. With these satellites the world
is in constant communication. -*

Sharks are among the most primitive living vertebrates. During 350 million years, they have followed
very particular routes in evolution adapting themselves to the changing conditions.
They•have had a terrible reputation as assasins. They always provoke horror in men due to the stories
of ancient times when there were creatures in the seas more terrible than sharks.
A typical shark is one of the most beautiful designs of Nature. Its long and trimlined shape ready to
move through the water as a rapid torpedo but from head to tail it seems to be created for evil. Its
mouth opens like a half moon toward the back with an impertubable smile, a wicked and cruel smile. In-
side its mouth there are lines and lines of teeth created to grasp, tear and triturate.
Nforeover, its skin is covered by thousand of small teeth that can wound a swinner only by touching him.
Its eyes are very apart one from the other and always without movement; with a sinister look. Sharks
always attack in circular movements.
Sharks have a very slow diggestion because their bowels are very short. A shark of three meters has on
ly 2:70 meters of bowels in comparison to a man of 1:80 meters who has 7:50 meters of bowels. Sharks
do not have swimming bladders-therefore they have to be in constant movement swimming from one place |u
to another in order to float. ¡J
An extraordinary characteristic of sharks is their smell; a very large part of their brain is used for ¡.V
this sense. The presence of blood in the water make them become insane and they attack their victim
defying any danger. If one of the sharks become wounded the others attack that shark with ferocity.
3
There is an unexplainable fact about a shark's attack because they attack men, but not all men are
attacked by sharks. Nobody knows why.
It is known that 35 of the 250 species of sharks attack men. Most of the species eat vegetable matter
or fish.
There is a novel with a title of JAWS written by Peter Benchley. It is a novel that tells the story of
the inhabitants of a small town and the attacks of a great shark that kept them terrified; and there is
also a film based on that novel.
