Course Description
In this course (Hebrew 1512) the students will continue developing all Hebrew Language skills
and strengthen the reading comprehension, writing and conversational functions. Students will
expand their vocabulary and learn more complex structure of grammar such as binyan הפעיל ,פיעל
and התפעל. Students will learn Hebrew syntax and will be able to be challenged with authentic
reading material. By the end of this course, students will be able to engage in conversations
related to emotions, people and places, directions, Israeli culture and to connect into real life
situations. Modern Israeli songs and media related materials will be used in the class to introduce
the study material as well as connect the students to modern Israeli culture and society. The
course will focus on advancing all linguistic skills including conversational abilities, writing,
listening comprehension and reading.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Attendance, preparation and participation
Full attendance, timely preparation for, and participation in every class are expected.
● Full attendance: no absences. By department policy, authorized absences require
a written note (a) from a doctor or a health service for medical reasons, or (b)
from the Dean for participation in official school functions. Unauthorized
absences will affect your grades. Repeated tardiness will also be penalized.
● Timely preparation: all assigned materials, including new forms and vocabulary,
are thoroughly prepared before class, leaving class time for practice.
● Active Participation: includes taking parts in all assignments and activities and
showing initiative in conversation. Classroom activities and conversations are
conducted in Hebrew.
HOMEWORK
Written assignments are due at the beginning of each class.
● No late submissions will be tolerated. If you do not understand an assignment,
it is your responsibility to consult the instructor or a classmate in time to meet the
deadline.
● Written assignments must be submitted individually, even when done in a group.
● Assignments must be neat and legible, whether typed or handwritten.
● Submissions must include full name, full date and section number.
Quizzes
There will be graded quizzes roughly every two weeks, approximately at the end of every
unit (5 quizzes per semester). Only 4 quizzes will count toward the final grade (the quiz
with the lowest grade will not be counted). If you cannot take a quiz, it will be counted as
the quiz with the lowest grade.
