1. Motivation

The students will form the Jigsaw puzzle below:

Afterwards, the teacher will condition the students about the topic by asking some related questions
like:

*Do you have a telephone at home?

*Have you already experienced to talk with someone unknown in the telephone?

*What if an unknown caller described himself as hideous-looked individual, would you still entertain
him?
2. Presentation

The teacher will give a short introduction about the literary piece to be discussed.

3. Pre-reading Activity

UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES

The teacher will post the visual material on the board containing the unfamiliar words and its definitions
and then she will call students to read it one at a time. The following words are as follows:

*Pressurized- to cause the air pressure inside

*Foully- unpleasant, offensive to the senses

*Stench- causing a strong feeling of dislike

*Rancid- full of anger and bitterness

*Squelching- a sticky substance that is formed by burning tobacco

*Dumbfounded- to prove briefly and usually with astonishment

*Assent- to agree to

*Clinical- analytical or coolly dispassionate

*Spectroscopic- a device that is used to measure the properties of light

*Fancy- to believe mistakenly

*Clanged- to make the loud ringing sound of metal hitting against something

*Brunette- a person having a brown or black hair and often a relatively dark complexion

*Pleaded- to try to prove

4. During reading

The teacher will let the students read the whole literary piece together while they are analyzing it, and
then she will read it for the second time.

5. Post-reading activity

The teacher will test the student's reading comprehension by asking some important points like:

*Who are the characters mentioned in the poem?


*In the first line, what do you think is the motive of the speaker?

*What do you think is the physical characteristics of the landlady? How about the speaker?

*What do you think is the emotion of the speaker in this line? How about the treatment of the landlady?

*How does the conversation ends?

The teacher will then give the real interpretation of the poem.

6. Generalization

The teacher will ask students to sum up the discussion

7. Application

The students will be asked:

*What message does the poem convey?

8. Evaluation

The students will be grouped based from their sitting arrangements. Given 5 minutes, they have to
collaborate in order to answer the table below:
