Photometric Classification Luminaire classification based upon following features of photometric performance:
(a) The extent to which the light from the luminaire is ‘thrown’ in the lengthwise
direction of the road is called the ‘throw’ of the luminaire.
(b) The extent to which the light is ‘spread out’ across the road is called the
90 ‘spread’ of the luminaire.
Figure Illustrates Isocandela diagram projected on road indicating the angle
max 90, in plane at right angle to the road axis, between downward vertical & the
line parallel to the road axis that just cuts the far side of the 90% Imax contour.
The value of 90 determines the ‘spread’ of the luminaire and max its ‘throw’.

AN INSIGHT ON STREET LIGHTING
Street lighting must provide safety,

Energy Saving Retrofit Solution Housing of deep drawn aluminium finished in epoxy powder coated grey from inside
& outside. The control gear box is prewired with extra impedance copper wound
ballast, rewireable fuse power factor improvement capacitor, mains connector,
electronic timer mounted on a grey tray. Power saver is provided with 2 nos.
earthing terminals - one internal and one external. A synthetic rubber gasket makes
the power saver box dust proof & weather proof.
Applications

hours. During peak hours the power saver will enable the lamp to glow at its rated
wattage (i.e. 250W) and during non-peak hours it will reduce the power to the lamp

Crompton Greaves Lighting offers a wide variety of Hot Dip Galvanised Octagonal poles
with a sturdy base plate. Our octagonal poles have a galvanising thickness of 80
microns (internally and externally). This protective coating ensures long life of the
product and does not require periodic painting. Octagonal poles by Crompton Greaves
have a distinct edge over conventional round stepped-wedged welded poles.

Floodlights are characterized according to the light distribution. Photomet-

ric parameters of a floodlight is:
Peak intensity
It represents the maximum intensity from floodlight and expressed in either in Candela
per kilo lumen or Candela.

HIGH MAST LIGHTING
High mast lighting as a concept in area lighting is being preferred over conventional lighting,
especially where large areas are to be illuminated without the need for numerous lighting
columns, that under certain circumstances, can be a hazard to movement. This is possible
because the high mast lighting system achieves very large space to height ratios.
Features
Our high mast is a continuously tapered, polygonal cross section of atleast 20 sides, presenting a
good and pleasing appearance which is based on proven intension design conforming to the
Technical report no.7 - 1996 of the Institution of Lighting Engineers UK, to give an assured
performance and reliable service. The structure is suitable for loading as per IS 875 (part 3) 1987.
Construction
High mast is fabricated from steel plates conforming to BS-EN 10025, cut and folded to from a polygonal
section. Masts are in two sections for 16 & 20 Mtr. and in three sections for 25 & 30 Mtr. heights having
only longitudinal weld conforming to BS 5135/AWS. The mast is provided with a fully penetrated flange
which is free from any laminations or incursions. The welded connection of the base flange is fully
developed to the strength of the entire section. The base flange is provided with supplementary gussets
between bolt holes to ensure elimination of helical stress concentration. For environmental protection of
the mast, the entire fabricated mast is Hot Dip Galvanised (Single Dip) internally and externally, having
uniform coating thickness of 85 / 65 microns for bottom / top sections respectively.
Door Opening
An adequate door opening is provided at the base of the mast. The opening is such that it permits clear
access to equipments like winch, cable, wire rope, plug & socket etc. and also facilitates easy removal of
the winch for servicing. The door opening is complete with a close fitting vandal resistant allen key
locking with provision for external lock. The door opening is carefully designed and reinforced with
EPR/PCP
Trailing Cable adequate steel section so that the mast section at the base is unaffected, and undue buckling of the cut
portion is prevented under heavy wind condition.
