 What societal problems inspired Project Generation EcoEducaton?
- unsanitary/unsafe conditions and lack of space in and surrounding NYC schools
- not enough access to clean parks and playgrounds
- lack of education on climate change, the environment, and sustainability
- underprivileged schools due to social conditions favoring white upper classes
- air pollution due to traffic, construction, garbage, and carbon emissions
- underprivileged neighborhoods’ exposure to more toxic air, leading to more health
problems

Our Goal
- The goal of Project Generation EcoEducation is to give elementary students a strong
foundation for what it means to be global citizens. In teaching them about ecosystems,
sustainability, and healthy interactions, I hope to create a future generation and promote
today’s that would reform government policies and the way politicians treat climate change.
The main step towards this is education which always prevails ignorance.

Problems Posed

Lots of green space is provided for the kids for recess and class
space all covered with a greenhouse. In addition, the variety of
plants provide science classes with curriculum and are beneficiary
in teaching students about interacting with their environment.
The team assigned from Generation EcoEducation would host
classes and events in this safe space as well.
Eco-friendly playgrounds would be installed for
recess, physical education, and for the children’s
well being.
Solutions
An animal barn with classroom pets such as
rabbits, hamsters, fish, frogs, and others would
not only help kids comprehend ecosystems and
other life forms but also provide the animals with
exposure to nature.
A food garden would be situated on the roof of the school (accessible by stairs) with a
separate additional greenhouse. This would help promote sustainability and teach kids
about nutrition, allowing them to grow their own vegetables and fruits that would be
redistributed in the cafeteria (with a new and healthier menu with a larger selection).
Also in this angle is the air filter at the very top of the whole structure in order to
maintain healthy CO2 and O2 levels.
