What are our Building Goals?

Reading
All students will demonstrate proficiency in Reading by achieving two out of the
three measurements.

Measurements used:

1) Unit Tests
2) End of Year Easy CBM
3) Iowa Assessments (7th/8th)

Iowa Assessments

The percentage of grade 7 students scoring proficient or higher in Reading will


increase from 73% to 92% by May 20th, 2017 as measured by the 2016 - 17 Iowa
Assessments.

increase from 76% to 85% by May 20th, 2017 as measured by the 2016 - 17 Iowa

Iowa Assessments

The percentage of grade 7 students scoring proficient or higher in Math will


increase from 86% to 93% by May 20th, 2017 as measured by the 2016-17 Iowa
Assessments.

increase from 77% to 93% by May 20th, 2017 as measured by the 2016-17 Iowa

Environment
Students will feel that Blue Creek Junior High is a bully free environment where
students are safe to report and stop bullying.

Measurements used:

1) Olweus Bullying Questionnaire


2) Behavior Referrals
3) Anonymous Online Bullying Form

Olweus Bullying Questionnaire

1) The percent of junior high students who report that the classroom teacher has done
“little or nothing” or “fairly little” to reduce bullying in the classroom will decrease from
47.3% to 30%.

2) The percent of junior high students who try to help the bullied student will increase
from 54.4% to 70%.

3) The percent of junior high students who report being bullied 2-3 times per month will
decrease from 11.6% to 7%.

Goal Setting Process
We have established the goals based on data and have the professional learning communities develop S.M.A.R.T. goals
to support the building goals. Reflect on these goals on a quarterly basis.

Struggling Subgroup
Examining our flex process- what can we do to improve?
- Examining data of those students identified with special needs- how can we better support?
- AEA Support- guidance and training working with our flex classes.

Development of a written, common understanding about what it takes to meet a standard

Professional Development
6-8 Training in Authentic Literacy- focused on Authentic Literacy (Vocabulary, Writing to Learn, summarizing, close
reading, argumentation).

Instructional Rounds
All teachers in 7th and 8th Grade will have the opportunity to experience Instructional round process this year.
