SPECIFIC COMPETENCES

2.2 – to use simple everyday phrases to take part in social interactions
LESSON AIMS: by the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
- recognise the rooms of a house;
- use the vocabulary in sentences;
- state a sentence when pictures are shown;
Content: Vocabulary: words related to houses (living room, dining room, kitchen, study room,
bedroom, bathroom, attic, garage)
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: -some students might need further help and extra indications in
solving the tasks and they may also need some of these indications to be given in Romanian;
Activity 1: Warm-up
Procedure:
Teacher asks for the absents. The student on duty tells the absents. Check-up homework
Teacher asks the pupils to open their copybooks and show the homework. The teacher checks the
homework and marks it. The students show their copybooks. While the teacher checks the
homework, he asks one student to read a sentence.
The student reads. The procedure goes on until all the sentences are read.

Activity 2
Procedure:
Ss are introduced to the topic of the new lesson. The teacher writes the title of the lesson on the
blackboard.
(The objectives of the lesson will be presented at the beginning of the lesson.)
The teacher presents the Ss the parts of a house using Power Point slides.
The teacher shows the Ss pictures with rooms of a house and tells the Ss: This is a living room.
T asks the Ss questions about the picture:
What is this?
T practises the new items of language orally in drills.
Activity 3:
T shows pictures with different rooms and asks the Ss questions about the pictures.
What is this?
T asks the Ss about the objects in a certain room:
What do you see in the dining room?
T asks the Ss to open their books on page 50. The teacher asks Ss to look at the pictures and then
read out the rooms in the list. Then the teacher gives Ss time to match the rooms to the
pictures. The teacher plays the recording for Ss to check their answers.
The teacher play the recording again with pauses for Ss to repeat chorally and/or individually.
The teacher draws a mind map and writes the parts of a house on the blackboard: living room,
dining room, kitchen, study room, bedroom, bathroom, attic, garage.
The teacher plays the video for Ss and elicit their comments.

Activity 4:
Procedure:

The teacher tells Ss to point to the numbered items. The teacher plays the recording with pauses for
Ss to repeat chorally and/or individually. The teacher check Ss’ pronunciation and intonation.
Activity 5
Procedure
The teacher explains the task. She asks Ss to write the headings into their notebooks.
The teacher asks Ss to work in pairs and write all the words in Ex. 2 under the correct headings. She
check Ss’ answers.
Activity 6
Aim: to ask and answer questions and consolidate the new vocabulary
Procedure
The teacher asks Ss to work in pairs and ask and answer questions following the example.
The teacher monitors the activity around the class.

A: Where are the curtains?
B: They are in the parents’ bedroom.
A: Where’s the toilet?
B: It’s in the bathroom.
A: Where’s the desk?
B: It’s in the child’s bedroom.
A: Where’s the coffee table?
