Overall aim and context of the lesson

For clarification, the lesson plan was the supportive approach for me in achieving my learning
outcomes in this lesson by allow the students to:

- Know the letter (g) and the sound of it.

- Write the upper and lower case of the letter (G, g).

- Identify various words that start with the letter (g).

SWC Lesson Reflection (Completed after EVERY lesson taught)

Select (S):
Identify a lesson and what standards are you addressing:
I taught students a language development lesson which is about a letter (g), in this guided lesson
students will be introduced to the letter (g), taught the sound of it and words start with this letter.
This lesson has been prepared according to student’s levels in the learning settings by giving them
differentiated activities, for example, sprinkle with glitter picture of lowercase and uppercase of letter
(G, g), have a gumball picture that inside it several of letter to will find the litter G to draw a circle on it
and have a several pictures that start with the letter G and find them to draw a circle. So, this technique
will support the students to take a step forward in the language development field.

Describe (D):
Who is the lesson for? Where did the lesson take place?
This lesson was targeted for KG1 who are from 4 to 5 years old, the lesson has taken place in the
classroom and I introduced it by allowing the students to sit in the circle area, then I separated them into
the three groups to have the independent experience activities and when they finished the activities I
asked them to come in the circle area to conclude the lesson with an enthusiastic activity.

What were you trying to achieve in your lesson? What did the students do?
In this lesson I tried to accomplish and teach students how to right the letter (G, g), what the sound of it
and what the words that start with this letter through providing them an engaging and challenging
activities in order to suits their levels, challenge their abilities, make them think above and be
concentrated on them instead of being bored with a simple, easy activity.

Based on that, students were involved in the lesson and the activities because during the activities when
they were sprinkling the glitter on the letter (G, g) they were saying that (g for glitter and gumball), so
from this excitement it shows that students understand the concept of the lesson.

Analyze (A):
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did? How well did your teaching relate to
the students’ prior understanding? How well did you engage the students?
Overlooking at what they were responding, I can see that students motivated well and I attracted their
attention in the introduction when I showed them pictures that has letter G hidden on it and let them to
find it and when I hide letter G in the classroom and let students go and find it. Also during the
independent activities when they were sprinkling the letter (G, g) with glitter and saying (wow look at my
letter G how it’s beautiful), and from that excitement they were doing the other part of the activities
very well with focusing on them to do it correctly.

I did an activity that was related to students prior understanding in the conclusion by giving students a
laminated paper with markers and let them write lowercase and uppercase (G, g), from this
technique, I assessed students learning in active way.

Appraise (A):
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective.
I noticed that, this lesson was very effective and students enjoyed the activities because all the students
were active, participating and excited to inform me of how they use the objectives that start with the
letter (g), for example, couple of students were saying (ms we like grape and my mom everyday put
grape on my lunch box). So, from student’s response I considered that the lesson plan was reached
students levels and their understanding.

Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?

5
As I can see, the letter (g) lesson was effective because at the end of the lesson I achieved my learning
outcomes and students developed some of their skills and abilities in learning centers while they were
applying the activities. For instance, students were writing the letter (G, g) in correct way, they were
circle pictures of letter (G) and recognizing the letter between several of letters. After doing the
activities, I assessed students by providing them a laminated paper to write the uppercase and lowercase
of the letter (G, g), so I can say that most of the students have met my objectives.

Transform (T):
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
In the future, I might change the way of showing how I am praising students during the lesson by using a
reward system chart to encourage them to learn more and best.

What are the implications for your professional practice?

I general, I noticed that I had an opportunity to manage student’s behavior by using teacher voice when
they are misbehaving or when I want to catch their behavior by changing my voice to suits students and
let them understand what the teacher wants from them and I she is happy or sad.
