Overall aim and context of the lesson

For clarification, the lesson plan was the supportive approach for me in achieving my learning
outcomes in this lesson by allow the students to:

- Recognizing the sound of the letter (k).

- Learn how to write the (K, k).

- Know new vocabulary words which start with the letter (k).

SWC Lesson Reflection (Completed after EVERY lesson taught)

Select (S):
Identify a lesson and what standards are you addressing:
I taught students a language development lesson which is about a letter (k), in this guided lesson
students will be introduced to the letter (k), taught the sound of it and words start with this letter.
This lesson has been prepared according to student’s levels in the learning settings by giving them
differentiated activities, for example:
- Find the pictures that start with letter (K), and they will make letter K by pictures.
- Color the pictures that start with the letter (K).
- Draw a circle on the letter (K), and color the king picture.

Describe (D):
Who is the lesson for? Where did the lesson take place?
This lesson was targeted for KG1 who are from 4 to 5 years old, the lesson has taken place in the
classroom and I introduced it by allowing the students to sit in the circle area, then I separated them into
the three groups to have the independent experience activities and when they finished the activities I
asked them to come in the circle area to conclude the lesson with an enthusiastic activity.

What were you trying to achieve in your lesson? What did the students do?
In this lesson I tried to achieve and teach students how to right the lowercase and uppercase letter (K, k),
what the sound of it and what the words that start with this letter through providing them an engaging
and challenging activities in order to suits their levels, challenge their abilities, make them think above
and be concentrated on them instead of being bored with a simple, easy activity.

According to that, students were involved in the lesson and the activities because during the activities
when they were coloring the king picture, they were saying that (k for king and we love king), so from
this excitement it shows that students understand the concept of the lesson.

Analyze (A):
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did? How well did your teaching relate to
the students’ prior understanding? How well did you engage the students?
Looking at students responses, I can see that students motivated well and I attracted their attention in
the introduction when I told them a story about family and the members of the family their names start
with the letter (k). So, from that excitement they were doing the other part of the activities very well
with focusing on them to do it correctly.

I did an activity that was related to students prior understanding in the conclusion by throwing a ball to
students and who catch the ball, will gave me a word that start with letter (K).

Appraise (A):
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective.
This lesson was very active and students enjoyed the activities because all the students were active,
participating and excited to inform me that where they can see these words that start with the letter (k)
such as, king, kangaroo.

Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?

As I noticed that, the letter (k) lesson was effective because at the end of the lesson I achieved my
learning outcomes and students developed some of their skills and abilities in learning centers while they
were applying the activities. For instance:
- Find the pictures that start with letter (K), and they will make letter K by pictures.
- Color the pictures that start with the letter (K).

5
- Draw a circle on the letter (K), and color the king picture.

So, I can say that most of the students have met my objectives.

Transform (T):
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
In the future, I might change the way of introducing the activities to the students by making it more
attractive.

What are the implications for your professional practice?

As I noticed that, during this lesson I had an opportunity to develop my strategies in managing student’s
behavior by using with them a reward system technique.
