Hyderabad district occupies an area of approximately 217 square kilometres
As per the 2011 survey, Hyderabad has 6.81 million population with a population
density of 18,480 people per square kilometer (47,000/sq mi).
Hyderabad District is a district in the state of Telangana in India that contains a part of
the metropolitan area of Hyderabad. The district is a city district, which means that it does not
have a district headquarters.

CLASSIFICATION OF INDIAN CITIES


Earlier the classification of Indian cities was done based on Compensatory City
Allowance and HRA. Based on CCA, The cities were classified as A-1, A, B-1 and B-2, and
based on HRA into categories A-1, A, B-1, B-2 and C.
The CCA classification was abolished in 2008, and based on the earlier HRAs
classification, classification of cities was changed from A-1 to X, A, B-1 and B-2 to Y and C
and unclassified cities to X, Y and Z.
