Expectations for Group Assignments

Write-up for submission

This is an opportunity to prepare professionally-looking documents. Your work should not look sloppy.

1. Please use A4 paper only.

2. Avoid double-column per page.
3. Please ensure that the group number and group members are clearly shown.
4. Your answers must be hand-written neatly. Illegible materials will not be marked. Only graphs can
be done using computers.
5. Concise and yet clear answers are the best. Length does not always correlate with quality.
6. Cite and list references properly where appropriate. This includes acknowledging specific
assistance from other groups.
7. 5% of the total mark obtained will be deducted for untidy work and / or not following the
guidelines given.

Submission
1. Each group submits just one set of assignment in hard copy.
2. Submit your work to my office in Block W, Room W2-02. A box will be put by the door for you to
drop your work.
3. The group member delivering the assignment must sign the assignment submission form. The
form can be found on the white board by the door of my office.
4. Late submission without valid reasons: 20% of the total mark obtained will be deducted per day
of late submission.

Peer Evaluation
1. The Peer Evaluation process is intended to ensure all team members contribute and cooperate
towards the completion of the assignment.
2. The Peer Evaluation will contribute 10% to the total assignment mark for each individual
3. To ensure confidentiality of the Peer Evaluation process, it is done via Google forms and only I
have access to the responses. (Link to the form is shared in Spectrum).
4. In case one group member does not submit the evaluation form, the whole group will receive
zero mark for Peer Evaluation.

Marking & return

1. Your work will be returned after grading, typically within three weeks after submission.
2. The group member collecting the homework must acknowledge receipt on the assignment return
form.
3. Any contest or doubt about the grading should be raised within a week from receiving the graded
assignment, after which any request will not be entertained.
