DIVISION MEMORANDUM

1. Due to prioritization of activities, the schedule for the conduct of Final Research
Consultation is moved from March 16-17, 2018 to April 23-24, 2018 at the Division
Conference Hall.
2. All master teachers shall ensure that their research S.Y 2017-2018 were already
finished during that final consultation. Copies of the manuscript (3 copies) shall be provided
to the Schools Division Research Committee (SDRC) three (3) days prior to the activity of
advance perusal by the SDRC members.
3. The purpose of the consultation is to ensure that all suggestions made by SDRC during
the Research Proposal Consultation are strictly followed.
4. All other provisions of the previous memorandum to include the objectives, guidelines,
submission of completed research SY 2017-2018 prior to the activity, registration fee,
programme of activities, working committee, evaluators, speakers, facilitators and
participants (public and private schools) remained reinforced.

G E N E R AL G U I D E L I N E S
1. The Students Research Congress shall focus on showcasing the critical thinking and
problem solving skills through quantitative and qualitative research conducted by Senior
High School (SHS) Students and Science, Technology & Engineering (STE) class from
both public and private schools as part of the requirements for their Research 1 & 2
subjects.
2. The activity aims to:
a. showcase the best research papers conducted by Senior High School students;
b. offer opportunities for presentation of research work in the regional scene;
c. provide an avenue for a healthy competition among student-researchers and
further enhance their research knowledge and competences
3. Each Senior High Schools shall select the best research conducted by SHS students
within School Years 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 in their respective. The proponents of the
selected research shall represent in the Schools Division and in the research regional
congress.
4. The research shall be presented in a Poster and in an Oral Presentation. The students
shall bring to the Congress three copies of the research paper containing the following
basic parts for judging on the actual manuscript:
Background of the Problem
Conceptual Framework
Statement of the Problem
Definition of Terms, Significance of the Study, Scope and Limitations of the Study
Review of Related Literature
Research Design, Population and Sampling
Data Collection Procedure (and Instrument used)
Data Interpretation and Analysis
Summary of Findings, Conclusions, and Recommendations
References
5. Each research shall be presented by a maximum of three (3) students only. The students
shall be accompanied by only one chaperon, which may be the research teacher,
research coach, or research adviser.
6. The district supervisor, district research coordinators, and school heads with Master
Teachers shall ensure the conduct of School Research Congress and shall bring best
researches to the division for Division Research Congress.

7. For the Conduct of School Research Congress [The Criteria below also be used]:
The School Research Committee (SRC) shall conduct an initial screening to all the
researches submitted in the school at least one week before the Division Research
Congress. After the screening, researches with the following scores shall:
Below 70% - research is not qualified for both poster & oral presentation
70% - 84% - for poster presentation
85% & above – for oral presentation
8. The criteria that shall be used in judging for the Top 3 research during the congress is
shown below:

Best Oral and Poster Presentation
a. Presenters are advised to use one piece vertical (portrait) tarpaulin layout
measuring 5x2 feet with stand.
b. The poster should include the Abstract, Background and Rationale, Research
Questions, Methodology, Discussion of Results, Reflections or Conclusions,
Recommendations, and References. For uniformity, poster presentations shall be

mounted on an X-stand (wooden or commercially available X-stand). It shall be
displayed on the designated area throughout the research congress.
10. The researcher should follow the following format:
a. Line Spacing - Double space except for table heading, tables, and references
b. Font Type - Times New
c. Font Size - 12
d. Margin - Right: 1” Left: 1.5” Top: 1” Bottom: 1”
e. Paper Size - Short Bond Paper (8.5” x 11”)
f. Citations/References - American Psychological Association (APA)
g. Packaging: shall short white folder.
11. The rubrics that shall be used in judging for the “Best Presentation” of both Oral and
Poster Presentation categories and both Action Research and Basic Research
categories during the conference is presented as follows:
