Finding my life purpose was one thought that has been lingering on
my mind to the point of pestering. I wouldn’t say that all my doubts
are cleared by the third lecture of Communications (Sep 28th), but
definitely it has shown me a broad direction. 80000 hours.org and
the Tedx talk “To find work you love, don’t follow your passion” was
one major take away for me personally, for which Pandey sir has
been preparing ground throughout the class. I learned that When
everything else is subsided, Collective subconscious intelligence can
be accessed. If we are present we perceive more effectively, but
developing 100% perception is not possible, but If the purpose is
aligned, competencies develop better and faster. Next the question
is how to find this purpose. The ideal world exercise churned out all
my past thoughts and future goals, to come up with my version of an
ideal world, which is to become extraordinarily fit and flexible,
become a great opera singer and finally attain enlightenment. These
all seem to be based on my primary talents. I also found out my top 4
characteristics, i.e appreciation, love, humility and gratitude.
The next exercise gave a deeper insight into how to use my character
and talent to create my ideal world. But still which career should I
choose if I have to create my ideal world? That’s where Benjamin
Todd gave helped. His message is to explore your talents and the
world, acquire good at flexible skills, and SOLVE PRESSING
PROBLEMS, especially problems which are generally neglected. I
started to look at the world’s most pressing problems, I started to
ponder on how I can use my talent and characteristics to solve those
problems. Even if I contribute partly, my 80000 hours of work life
would be filled with satisfaction and joy. Still It is not easy to zero in
on anything with certainty. Then I came across this quote (Picture).
Hmm. Something to keep in mind. Looking forward to the next
session to get more clarity about my life.
