Profile
Universitas Pertamina (UP) was established on February 1, 2016 and was inaugurated by
Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Republic of Indonesia and
President Director of PT Pertamina (National Oil, Gas, and Energy Company of Indonesia) on
February 11, 2016 with the vision to be the world class university in energy business and
technology. Corresponding to its vision, Pertamina University is supported by professionals
and expert in various fields who commit to provide the best solution possible for
corporations and government institutions to excel and perform in their respective dynamic
environment. There are 6 faculties and 15 departments with 1235 students have been

Prof. Akhmaloka, Ph.D (Rector)

Prof. Akhmaloka served as Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung from 2010 – 2015.
During his tenure, he was appointed as head delegate of the Republic of Indonesia
at several International Event, such as Joint Working Group in Education between
France and Indonesia in Lille.
Due to his excellence in education sector, he was awarded Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from University of
Selangor, Malaysia. He got number of service medals from the President of Indonesia and was selected as the best
competitive grant researcher in field of Biotechnology.
Prof. Akhmaloka received his Diploma in Biotechnology from International Institute of Biotechnology and his
Doctoral degree from University of Kent at Canterbury, england. He has been serving to focus attention on
Molecular Biology of Thermophilic Bacteria and Thermostable Enzyme. He has been active in doing research on
Biotechnology since 1992.
Prof. Akhmaloka has presented his researches at hundreds of both nationally and internationally recognized
seminars. Undoubtedly, some of his researches have been published on at least 70 International Journals and
scientific books. At the moment, Prof Akhmaloka is serving as the Rector of University of Pertamina.
Professor Ichsan Setya Putra, Ph.D.
(Vice Rector 1: Academic and Student Affairs)
Prof. Ichsan was appointed as Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs at
University of Pertamina. He is the fifth Professor at Aerospace Engineering
Department, ITB. He had also served as the Chairman of Quality Assurance Unit,
Director of Education, and Department Head of Aerospace Engineering at Bandung
Institute of Technology.

As an academician, Prof. Ichsan received his doctoral degree from Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Delft
University of Technology, the Netherlands. He has been active in doing research on Fracture Mechanics and
Fatigue. At the moment, his is one of Directors at FEOFS (Far East & Oceanic Fracture Society).
As an inspiring figure, Prof. Ichsan has been receiving many invitations to deliver a training in giving motivation to
students, teachers and lecturers. He is holding licensed trainer of 7 Habits of Highly Effective College Students and
licensed trainer of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Moreover, he has written several books, to name a few;
“Strategi Sukses di Kampus”, “Sukses dengan Softskills”, and “Sukses Berlatih Kepemimpinan”.
Simson Panjaitan, MBA.
(Vice Rector 2: Finance and Organizational Resources)
Simson Panjaitan finished his bachelor study from Faculty of Law, Gajah Mada
University, Indonesia in 1988 and his master degree in Master of Bussiness
Administration from University Dallas, USA. He has experiences for more than 27
years as a professional since 1989 in petroleum industry through Pertamina,
including human resources, general affairs, legal advising, risks management and
finance in upstream and downstream business.

He served as a Director of Pertamina EP Libya Ltd (PEPL), one of Pertamina’s subsidiary in Libya for oil and gas
exploration and production activity in 2001 – 2011. Before serving as Vice Rector in Universitas Pertamina, he was
a Finance Director of Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (PETRAL) and Pertamina Energy Services (PES) located in
Hongkong and Singapore. He has done several transformation in the company and has accepted numerous awards.
Currently, he serves as Vice Rector 2 in Finance and Organizational Resources in Universitas Pertamina.
Budi W. Soetjipto, Ph.D.
(Vice Rector 3: Research, Development, and Planning )
Budi W. Soetjipto completed his master and doctoral degree from Cleveland State
University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA in Human Resources Management (minor:
operational management) and organizational behavior (minor: manufacturing).
Meanwhile, he received his undergraduate degree from Faculty of Economics and
Business, University of Indonesia minoring in human resource management and
transportation
He has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia since 1990. He taught
several courses such as organizational behavior and theory, human resource management, change management,
leadership, group dynamics, performance management, as well as negotiation and dispute resolutions in industrial
relations. Furthermore, he is still serving as Chief Editor South East Asia Management Journal and Human Resource
Ambassador for Indonesia in Academy of Management.
To name a few, before joining University of Pertamina and serving as Vice Rector III, Budi has served as Chairman of
Management Institute at Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, Executive Director of
Indonesian Management Development Institute, Dean at Sampoerna Business School and so on.
Budi is also a consultant in organisation and human resources. He has assisted many organisations with his
expertise. These organisations are ranging from private companies to Ministry level of the Republic of Indonesia,
for instance PT Mitra Pinasthika Mulia Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Semen Indonesia, PT Pertamina Persero,
Ministry of Education and Culture, and many more. Budi is an International licensed assessor for WorkPlace Big
