Grammar Structures / Vocabulary

Grammar Topic Explanation/Structure/Examples

It is the verb tense used to make statements or talk about immutable events and events that occur on a regular basis, If the
subject is 3rd person singular is added a "-s" to the verb.

For verbs ending in "-o", "- sh", "-ch", "-ss", "-x", "-z", "-y", "-es" is added instead of "- s for the 3rd person singular. "

To go ------- he goes
To wish ----- he wishes

Present Simple Additionally, the verbs ending in "-y" when the "and" is not preceded by a vowel, form the third person in "-ies".

To occupy ------ he occupies

To study -------- he studies

But beware if the "-y" is preceded by a vowel, the third person is formed with a "-s" (standard ending)

To buy ------ he buys

Structure
Affirmative Negative Interrogative

Subject + Verb Subject + don’t + Verb Aux + subject + Verb

Affirmative: I speak French; Negative: I don’t speak French; Interrogative: Do you speak French?
The progressive present is used to talk about an action that is occurring at this time.

The structure of the progressive present is the following:

Present Progressive Affirmative: To be + gerund ; Negative: To be + not + gerund ; Interrogative: To be + S +gerund

Example of progressive present:

Affirmative: I am eating a sandwich ; Negative: You’re not talking ó you aren’t talking ; Interrogative: Is he dancing alone?
There is / There´s (singular)
There are (plural)

The structure is easy you just have to conjugate the verb to be in the time you want to use

Affirmative: There + verb to be; Negative: There + verb to be + not; Interrogative: Aux + there

Example of there is / are

 There is a table in the classroom / There are balls on the court (present simple)
There is / are  There was a mouse in the garden / There were few strawberries in the fridge (past)

In the simple future the structure is the same for the singular and the plural only the verb to be is conjugated in the future

 They say that there will be a rainy day tomorrow / Tomorrow there will be two parties in the university (future)

To convert the phrase to negative you have to add the not immediately after the use of the expression

 There is no rest / there are not many things to do today.

To form questions in English, we must convert the structure of the affirmative phrases and place the auxiliary in front of the
subject (there). in the present and the past the verb to be is the auxiliary

 Is there a barbershop here? / will there be a new movie in the cinema?

These adverbs tell us the periodicity with which an action is performed, are the following: always, usually, frequently, often,
sometimes, occasionally, rarely, seldom, hardly never and never.

Structure: S + Frequency Adverbs + Main verb + C

Example:

 I always go to bed at 10pm.

 She never says “good morning” when she arrives at the office.

Frequency adverbs In the case that the adverbs of frequency accompany the verb to be, they will be placed behind:

Structure: S + Verb to be + Frequency Adverbs + C

Example:

 She is always happy.

 You are never on time.

Dear mother,

It has been two months since my husband and I moved to Paris France. I feel good, but I miss you. I'm

going to tell you all about this city and its friendly people. It has been difficult to adjust to a new language,

new culture, new food, etc but is just a matter of time and patience.

Paris is a city that has many places to visit, this is the center, it is sold as you can see many clothes and very

beautiful, you can also see the restaurants in which they prepare very delicious meals and there is a lot of

variety, the streets of Paris are spacious and are not more than everything as a style of passages. Is the best

place to love because is so romantic.

My house in Paris is in a rural area, most of the houses have a facade of the previous times, but have been

modernized over time, my room with my husband is very spacious, beautiful and simple, next to the room

of the guests is the room, the bathroom is between the room and the garje, the pine forest is behind the

house, so the environment where the house is a very quiet place, it is very comfortable and beautiful. In the

room there is a large wardrobe, there is a large bed and an elegant sofa, in the kitchen there are two chairs

and a table, the clock is by the table on the same wall, there is a large fridge, a stove and there are always

many fruits. The marble counter is under the cupboard on the same wall.

My husband and I always get up in the mornings, have breakfast, brush our teeth, then take a shower, get

dressed and organize to go to our work sites from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., husband always picks me up at

5:00 p.m. and we are going to eat something in the city and then we go home we organize, we watch

television and then we go to rest. Usually the saturday we go to the museum or cultural places, eat ice cream

and some special food.in the night we meet with Paula and Thomas, they are American and they like the

opera and the theater,so we often we are go.The Sunday is so special because I like run in the park while

my husband read his favorite book, leter go to the restaurant,we are arrive to home to approximately at 2:00

p.m,then always we sleep all afternoon, and then my husband prepare the dinner,we eat ,we whatch a movie
